Function documentationManaging Projects

A solution in Solution Documentation, with its branch, sublandscape and change cycle, can be integrated with project management. The Solution Documentation, tab is available on project level if the corresponding project type is active for SAP Solution Manager integration. You can navigate from this tab to the assigned branch, sublandscape and change cycle of the SAP Solution Manager solution, and assign or unassign a solution.

Prerequisites

If you have upgraded from SAP Solution Manager 7.1, you have activated your projects. You have set up project management. For more information, see Setting Up Project Management.

Activities

Access projects in SAP Solution Manager from the launchpad (transaction SM_WORKCENTER), under Start of the navigation path Projects and Process Management Next navigation step My Projects End of the navigation path.

Select a project to start the editor. Under Structure, on the Solution Documentation tab, you see the assigned information from SAP Solution Manager.

Assigning SAP Solution Manager Data

You can assign SAP Solution Manager data on the Solution Documentation tab of a project, directly, or from the selection help. The selection help uses branch, sublandscape, and change cycle: You can select only SAP Solution Manager data that is not yet assigned to a project, and that is of the same project type, according to the customizing settings.

When you assign SAP Solution Manager data, the system checks that you entered only one of the following combinations:

  • branch

  • branch and sublandscape

  • branch, sublandscape and change cycle

You can only assign change cycles to which a task list is assigned.

The system checks the consistency of the data you entered. A change cycle belongs to exactly one branch and one sublandscape. A branch is assigned to one solution, and a sublandscape is also assigned to one solution.

You can still assign SAP Solution Manager data if a project has already been released. After the assignment, a pop-up asks you to confirm, and informs that the assignment cannot be removed, as the project already has the status Released. You can proceed with the assignment or cancel it.

Deleting a Project

A project can be deleted if it has not been released. If you want to delete a project to which SAP Solution Manager data is assigned, disconnect the SAP Solution Manager data first.

After disconnecting, you can use the SAP Solution Manager data independently again, and you can edit or delete the project.

Unassigning SAP Solution Manager Data

To unassign SAP Solution Manager data from a project, choose Remove Solution Documentation on the Solution Documentation tab and confirm.

You cannot remove the assignment if the project has already been released.
