 Creating and Editing Test Packages

Test cases are collected for the tester in test packages. A test package is based on a test plan. Test cases are chosen from the test plan for the test package. If you have created a test plan for a process in SAP Solution Manager, you can also select test cases and executables that are to be tested, for a test package, from the test plan.

Activities

Creating Test Packages
  1. In the Test Plan Management view of the Test Management work center, select a test plan.

  2. Under Test Package List, choose Start of the navigation path Test Package Next navigation step Create End of the navigation path.

The application to manage test packages opens.

  3. Enter data as required.

    • Fill the mandatory fields on the General Data tab:

      • Test Package ID: This is the identifier for your test package. It should be unique within your test plan.

      • Description

      • Responsible person

      • Priority

The others information on this tab, except for the creation and change information, is inherited from the test plan, and display only.

    • On the Settings tab, you can add attachments to document the test process or context. The attachments that have been created for the test plan, can be used here as well.

    • On the Dates tab, enter the Planned Start Date and Planned End Date for the test package. They should fit in the timeframe defined for the test plan. Dates for the test package are per default filled with the dates that were defined for the test plan.

If you define a planning level for the test package, you can enter the overall resource requirement under Planned Effort.

    • On the Test Case Selection tab, select the test cases that are relevant for the test package. For more information, see Creating and Editing Test Plans.

    • On the Testers tab, assign the persons who execute the test cases. Each tester must be registered as business partner in SAP Solution Manager. Their technical users and the systems on which they are allowed to work must be defined accordingly in their business partner profile.

You can temporarily hide an assigned test package from a tester, by locking the user assignment. The tester will then not see the test package in the tester work list. This lock is user-specific and does not depend on test plan status value.

  4. Save and close the window.

Editing Test Packages

As a test coordinator, you can change, for example, the person responsible or the priority of packages.

Note Note

If test execution has been started, the status and defects assignment will be lost if you remove the tester or deselect a test case.

Adding the tester or selecting the test case, again, will not restore this information.

End of the note.

  2. From the Test Packages area, select one test package and choose Start of the navigation path Test Package Next navigation step Edit End of the navigation path.
