Procedure documentationSetting Up Message Flow Monitoring

To allow users to check specific messages or the monitoring team to optimize message flows or detect errors, you set up message flow scenarios.

  • To allow easy selection of the business-critical end-to-end message flows, edit the message flow names, add descriptions, and assign contact persons.

  • Define housekeeping options (the retention time of messages which reached the system of a business partner, for example).

  • Create message flow groups. This is what users actually monitor. You can group message flows, for example, by the following criteria:

    • business partner

    • person responsible (and corresponding authorizations)

    • sending/receiving systems involved

  • Define related message flows, for example an order dispatched to a business partner and its confirmation by the business partner system.

    .

Prerequisites

Business

The integration architect has

  • identified the message flows to be monitored

  • outlined mapping rules for related message flows in B2B scenarios

For more information about possible roles and activities involved in Message Flow Monitoring scenarios, see Message Flow Monitoring.

    1. To start the set-up, in the SAP Solution Manager Configuration work center choose Start of the navigation path Technical Monitoring Next navigation step Interface Monitoring Next navigation step Message Flow End of the navigation path.

    2. Follow the guided procedure.

  2. To allow users to display data, do the following:

    • In the Message Flow Monitoring setup guided procedure, in the Standard Users step, create a user.

    • Recommended: To allow users to display business-related data selectively, create personal object worklists (POWL) and assign them to message flow groups and user roles.
