Procedure documentationImporting Transport Requests

You want to import the transport requests that are part of your change documents.

Note Note

You can also execute this task from within an urgent change.

End of the note.

Note Note

Using report /TMWFLOW/SCHEDULE_IMPORT, you can also schedule imports of transport requests into managed systems, using freely defined intervals. The generated job triggers an import into a specified system of the task list. For more information, see the report documentation in the system.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • A task list exists whose status is Active.

  • You have been assigned the SAP_CM_OPERATOR_COMP role in the SAP Solution Manager system.

  • You have been assigned the SAP_CHANGEMAN_OPERATOR role in the managed system.

    Note Note

If you execute this task from within a change document, you must have been assigned the SAP_CM_DEVELOPER_COMP role in the SAP Solution Manager system.

    End of the note.

Procedure

To import transport requests from within a task list, proceed as follows:

  1. Call transaction /TMWFLOW/MAINTINST.

  2. Choose the relevant project type tab page .

  3. Click the task list for which you need to import transport requests.

  4. Under the task node of the target system of your import, select Import Transport Request, and then start the action by clicking Schedule task.

    Recommendation Recommendation

If you have activated central CTS for your project, SAP recommends to choose the task under the cluster project node to start the import. Especially if you would like to start the import into several systems of the same cluster in parallel, you must use this node.

    End of the recommendation.
  5. In the dialog box that appears, enter or select the import options for this import.

    Note Note

The import parameter dialog box is only available for calls from the Schedule Manager. This is the case for urgent changes that are processed manually, and for maintenance cycles. In the case of urgent changes that are processed from within a change document, it is assumed that the import has to be started with the default import settings.

For maintenance cycles, the box displays the project that you specified and the import target. For urgent changes, the box displays the corresponding requests and the import target.

    End of the note.
  6. On the Execution tab page, specify how you want the transport control program to start. (For more information, see Starting an Import.)

  7. On the Options tab page, specify options for the import. (For more information, see Starting an Import: Options.)

  8. If you have activated central CTS for your project, the Systems tab page is displayed, showing all the systems in the target cluster. Select the target systems for your transport request.

  9. After you have made your settings, choose Continue.

The transport requests are imported and the task list is displayed again.

    Note Note

In case the system finds a downgrade conflict, the import is canceled. The conflicts are displayed in the application log.

    End of the note.
  10. Check the status of your task. If you need more information about the task, check the application log in the Daily overview of the task list.

Result

In the selected system, the following types of transport requests are imported:

  • In the context of an urgent change:

    • All requests that belong to that urgent change and that have been released

    • Requests that have not already been imported

    • Requests that have been recorded in the import queue of the import target

  • In the context of maintenance projects:

    • All requests that belong to the CTS project connected to that maintenance cycle

    • Requests that have been recorded in the import queue of the import target

      Note Note

The requests that are imported within an urgent change cycle are flagged as preliminary imports. This means that they will be imported again as part of the regular project import of the corresponding maintenance cycle.

      End of the note.
