Function documentationUsing the Work Center

Work centers are central work environments that provide access to role-specific functions. The structure of a work center depends on your role. You have access to relevant messages, alerts, reports, and documents for which your role is authorized. The number of work centers assigned to you depends on your tasks.

Integration

Under My Home you can use a function that displays a summarized and customizable view of the work centers assigned to you. From My Home, you can use hyperlinks to go to the display and processing of important information and key figures for your area of responsibility, as well as reports that are relevant for you.

Prerequisites

  • You have made the required settings for using work centers. For more information, see SAP Solution Manager customizing, under Start of the navigation path SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step Technical Settings Next navigation step Work Center End of the navigation path.

  • To ensure that the system displays the work centers relevant to you, system administration has made the required role assignments for you. For more information about roles and authorizations, see the SAP Solution Manager Security Guide on SAP Service Marketplace, under Start of the navigation path http://service.sap.com/instguidesInformation published on SAP site Next navigation step SAP Components Next navigation step <current release> End of the navigation path.

Features

Starting the Work Center

You can start all work centers for which you are authorized, as follows:

  • In the SAP GUI for Windows using transaction SM_WORKCENTER

  • In a Web browser using the Web Dynpro application AGS_WORKCENTER

    Note Note

    • By default, the URL for calling up the Web Dynpro application (in the SAP namespace) has the following syntax:

      http://< host >:< port >/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/ags_workcenter?sap-language=< e.g.: EN>.

    • Do not use the Back button for navigating in your Web browser.

    • You can also start an individual work center directly using the corresponding Web Dynpro application. To call up the URL, for example, for Incident Management (in the SAP namespace), use the following syntax:

      http://< host >:< port >/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/ags_work_incident_man?sap-language=< e.g.: EN>

    End of the note.
  • in SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC)

Here you have the same navigation options as in the Web browser but the system arranges the UI elements differently: In NWBC, the navigation bar is vertical and the navigation area is horizontal. For more information, see SAP Library for SAP NetWeaver Business Client on SAP Help Portal at Start of the navigation path http://help.sap.com/netweaverInformation published on SAP site Next navigation step SAP NetWeaver Platform Next navigation step <current version> Next navigation step Application Help Next navigation step Function-Oriented View Next navigation step <language> Next navigation step UI Technologies in SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step User Interface Clients End of the navigation path.

General Set-Up and Functions

Work centers are all structured in the same way, to ease orientation and navigation. Certain functions can be used in the lists. For more information, see:
