Procedure documentationImporting Changes

SAP recommends that you always import a project as a whole.

Caution Caution

By importing single QGM changes, the import sequence of the transport requests for these changes might be switched around. This means that the transport requests might be imported in a different sequence than they were exported. Since the import into a system controls the sequence of the content in the buffers of the follow-on systems, the transport requests are imported in this changed sequence into all follow-on systems, including the production system. You can use the Start Import function for all systems of a transport track. This means that in the dialog box for importing changes, all target systems of the track are available for selection, not only the consolidation system.

End of the caution.

Procedure

To import changes into a follow-on system, proceed as follows:

  1. Access the Changes tab in the lower section, and put the cursor on the change that you want to transport.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Manage Transports Next navigation step Import Transport Request of Change End of the navigation path.

  3. The system displays a dialog box, in which you can enter or modify the import parameters for the change.

  4. If necessary, change the logical target system into which the import is to be carried out.

If you have activated the central Change and Transport System (central CTS) for your project, you can select a source and target system cluster for which to perform the import.

  5. For a standard project, there are three tabs in this dialog box:

    • Date: You can specify whether to import the data immediately or later. For more information, see Start Import: Time.

    • Execution: You specify whether to have a synchronous or an asynchronous import. For more information, see Import: Execution.

    • Options: You have several different options for importing. These are explained in Import: Options.

For a central CTS project, the additional Systems tab is displayed. You can specify to which target systems that are part of the target cluster you want to perform the import.

  6. Enter the required parameters, and choose OK.

  7. The import runs immediately or is scheduled for the specified date and time.

Result

The transport requests of the change you selected have been imported into the follow-on system.
