The purpose of this part of the Realization phase is to configure the process requirements you specified in the Business Blueprint phase in the managed system.

If you use objects from the Business Process Repository in your own structures, some of them are already assigned to transactions and BC Sets.

If you create structures independently, that is, without objects from the Business Process Repository, you can assign transactions in the Business Blueprint transaction. You can assign BC Sets, IMG objects, and test cases/business test requirements in the Configuration transaction.

Prerequisites

You have selected scenarios and processes or created your own processes using the Business Process Repository in the Business Blueprint phase (see Business Blueprint).

Features

In this part of the project, you:

  • Create configuration structures on the Structure tab page based on elements of the Business Process Repository, projects, or the defined scope of business functions.

  • On the Administration tab page, you can check and supplement existing project data (see Administration Tab Page).

  • On the Transactions tab page, you can run transactions that are already assigned, add more transactions, or remove transactions that you no longer need from the project scope. For more information, see Assigning Transactions to a Structure Element.

  • You can assign BC Sets and IMG objects to the individual project steps on the Configuration tab page. You can view and edit the settings for BC Sets and IMG objects in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for the managed system in question.

    In addition, you can view the contents of the assigned BC Sets and remove BC Sets you no longer require from the project scope. You can activate one BC Set or all BC Sets assigned to a process.

    You can create new BC Sets in the managed system and assign them in SAP Solution Manager for project or company-specific settings that you want to use in a global rollout or to create your own solution, for example.

  • You can enter your own developments and modifications on the Development tab page (see Development Tab Page).

  • On the Test Cases tab page, you can assign test cases to the structure elements or create associated test cases. You can convert the test cases for business functions shipped with the system locally to test documents. You can perform initial function tests directly after the configuration. You can also run CATTs to get to know how a transaction works.

  • You document the settings which are relevant to the configuration along the project structure on the Project Documentation tab page. You can also use the General Documentation. You can use digital signatures when working with the documents. For more information, see Digital Signature and Edit Documents.

  • You can create or change service messages and change transactions on the Service Messages tab page (see Service Messages Tab Page).

  • You can display scenarios and processes visually on the Component View tab page (see Component View Tab Page).

  • The Business Functions tab page allows you to assign suitable business functions to your business processes to include additional functions (see Business Functions Tab Page).

Activities

  1. Call the Configuration transaction in the Implementation/Upgrade work center, in the Create view.

  2. Perform the technical configuration. Choose the Configuration node in the structure and configure your cross-scenario settings on the Structure and Configuration tab pages.

    • You create a configuration structure for the basic settings of your solution, for example, for the SAP solution SAP CRM 3.1.

    • You configure these basic settings.

  3. Perform the scenario and process-specific configuration. Choose the Business Scenarios node in the structure and use the tab pages to configure your settings for a specific scenario, such as e-selling.
