To monitor interface channels for a selected scenario, display the following information:

  • Interface Channel Topology tab page:

    • Landscape: In a graphical overview, display the interface channels between systems, by type.

    • Detail information: Display the interfaces and attributes assigned to each interface channel.

    • Metric Details: Display the status and current values of interfaces, by metrics

  • Dashboards tab page: On the level of interface channels or individual interfaces, for each metric, display the values for the selected time range. Values are measured in intervals of 1 minutes or 5 minutes, depending on the metric. If you have assigned attributes to the interface channels, you can filter the data.

Depending on the interface type, the following metrics are displayed, for example:

    Interface Channel Type

    Category

    Available Metrics

    RFC

    Availability

    Availability of RFC channel

A simulated function call is executed every minute to measure the availability, as the percentage of successful function calls in an interval of 5 minutes.

    Performance

    Number of RFC executions

Average RFC response time in an interval of 5 minutes

    Exception

    Number of RFC exceptions

    Web Service (WS)

    Availability

    Availability of WS

If configured, a simulated function call is executed every minute to measure the availability, as the percentage of successful function calls in an interval of 5 minutes.

    Performance

    Number of WS executions

response time in an interval of 5 minutes

    Exception

    Number of WS exceptions

    SAP NW PI

    Performance

Total number of successful PI messages

    Exception

    Number of erroneous PI messages

    SAP NW Gateway

    Performance

Average response time of a service execution

    Number of service executions

    File system

    Availability

Number of files available matching a file name pattern

    Performance

    Size of files

    Age of files

    IDoc

    Exceptions

    Number of erroneous IDocs

    Performance

    Number of processed IDocs

    Average IDoc processing time

    Performance

Number of entries with interim status in group

Age of oldest interim status in group

    tRFC

    Exceptions

Age of oldest entry in critical state

Number of tRFC entries in critical state

    Performance

Number of tRFC entries in interim state

Age of oldest entry in interim state

    bgRFC

    Exceptions

Age of oldest unit in error state

    Number of erroneous queues/destinations

Prerequisites

Procedure

Starting the Monitoring UI
  1. In the Technical Monitoring work center, choose Interface Monitoring.

  2. On the Interface Channel Monitoring tab page, select a scenario and choose the Interface Channel Monitoring pushbutton.

  3. Define the time interval to monitor.

  4. If you have created multiple scenarios and attributes, to display the scenario list and the attributes, if maintained, choose Filters.

Using the Interface Channel Topology Tab Page
  • To display the current status of a system or interface,

    1. Choose Metric Details.

    2. Double-click the status icons of an interface channel.

Under Metric Details, the node is expanded and the current metric data is shown (the average response time in ms, for example).

      Note Note

The Metrics Details view is only displayed if alerting was activated for the interface channel.

      End of the note.
  • To display the items on the Landscape dashboard app, as arranged by the administrator, choose   Layout   Public Layout  .

Using the Dashboards Tab Page
  • To display the data for a certain interface channel only, in the legend of the chart, position the mouse on the name of the interface channel.

  • To drill down to individual interfaces, in the legend of the chart, double-click the interface channel, or on a data point in the chart.

If configured, you can drill down to performance metrics on the level of instances. This data is only available for RFC or web services interfaces.

  • If you want an interface channel or interface to be not displayed in the chart, in the legend of the chart click the name of interface channel or interface

  • If you have activated alerting, to display alert details and to process alerts, in the dashboard apps, choose Alert Inbox.

  • If exceptions occurred, you can start the Exception Management Cockpit, to have, for example, the following options:

    • Display details of an exception

    • Create an incident or a notification

For more information, see Exception Management.
