You use this procedure to create tasks by scheduling guided procedures for managed objects such as technical systems, hosts and databases. You can create tasks in either standard or expert mode.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Technical Administration work center.

  2. Choose IT Task Management.

  3. Select IT Task Planning, embedded or in a new window.

  4. In the Plan pushbutton, choose either Guided Procedure(standard) or Guided Procedure(Expert).

    • If you have chosen Guided Procedure(Standard), perform the following substeps.

      1. Select one or more guided procedures from the Available guided procedures list.

      2. Choose Select Guided Procedure(s).

      3. Enter the scheduling information, as required.

      4. Select Managed Objects in the Assign/Change pushbutton.

      5. In the Select Managed Objects dialog box, enter the required managed objects and choose Add, and then choose OK.

        Note Note

        For a guided procedure or its step, you can assign managed objects of one type only, for example, if you have assigned managed objects of type technical system, then you cannot assign a managed object of type database or host as the follow-on assignment.

      6. Choose Processor in the Assign/Change pushbutton.

      7. In the Assign Processor dialog box, enter the business partner number of the processor or support organization to whom you want to assign the task.

        You can change the priority and name of the tasks.

    • If you have chosen Guided Procedure(Expert), perform the following substeps. For detailed information on each substep, see the inline help in the Help tray of Plan Guided Procedure window in expert mode.

      1. Select a guided procedure.

      2. Enter the scheduling information as required.

      3. Assign managed objects to the guided procedure steps.

      4. Assign processor to the guided procedure activities.

      5. Review the details and summary of assignments of the created tasks.

  5. Save your entries, and return to the initial screen of IT task planning. Refresh to view recently planned guided procedures and their tasks. View all tasks of the planned guided procedure, centrally, in IT Task Inbox, by choosing Show Task Instances.
