To ensure that the users of the managed systems can, for example, check the processing status of support messages in SAP Solution Manager, they must be created as users and business partners in SAP Solution Manager. The report AI_SDK_USER_BP_GEN determines new users in the managed systems.

You can perform the following functions with this report:

  • List new users by comparing SAP Solution Manager and managed systems:

    • As administrator, check in which managed systems there are new users.

    • As SAP partner, find new managed systems for a customer and/or new users in a customer’s managed systems.

  • If your security policy permits it, you can automatically create or update new users and business partners in SAP Solution Manager.

Recommendation Recommendation

Create a variant and schedule the report as a weekly background work process.

End of the recommendation.

Prerequisites

  • The ST-PI plug-in is installed in the managed systems.

  • You are authorized for transaction SE38, and to run report AI_SDK_USER_BP_GEN.

  • In transaction SE38, you have called the report AI_SDK_USER_BP_GEN.

  • Users created in the SAP Solution Manager must exist in the managed system with an E-Mail address or the same user name. These are their central identification attributes.

Activities

Run report in test mode

Test mode is the default, to initially simulate the result.

  1. To restrict users by Change Date, in the Select Users from Managed System group box, choose Select by Last Change Date.

    • Under RFC Destinations you specify which RFC destinations the report is to take into account.

    • Select the Existing Read RFCs check box

The system searches for users via existing RFC connections between the SAP Solution Manager and managed systems of type READ.

    • To use enhanced authorizations to search for users, select the Trusted RFCs check box.

Choose this option, for example, if the report did not find the expected users.

    • Enter the selection date in the User Changed Since field. The report checks which users have been added since the entered date. The system date is set as the default.

  2. To restrict users by User Name, in the Select Users from Managed System group box, choose Select by User Name.

    • Enter an RFC connection in the field RFC Connection.

    • Specify which Users the report is to take into account, under Users.

  3. To get users from their E-Mail address or user name, in the Users group box, choose a radio button under Get Users and Business Partners by.

  4. To create business partners automatically, select the Create Business Partner (BP) check box.

To ensure that newly-created business partners can log on to SAP Solution Manager, they must also be created as users.

  5. To update the identification numbers of already created business partners, select the Update Business Partners (BP) check box.

  6. To create users automatically, proceed as follows:

    • Select the Create User checkbox

    • Choose users creation options:

      • Enter the name of a template or reference user.

      • Specify whether the users are to get the SAP Solution Manager logon password per E-Mail.

        Caution Caution

Only set Send Mail to New User if the security guidelines allow sending passwords by E-Mail.

        End of the caution.
  7. Select the report execution options, in the Program group box:

    • To display all details, select the Display Details check box.

To display only called RFC connections, summaries of subfunctions and error messages, remove the checkmark.

    • To also display invalid users, to whom no e-mail address is assigned in the managed system, deselect the Hide Skipped Entries field.

    • Select the Test Mode check box

The report shows the result of a simulation.

  8. Choose Execute.

The report checks the RFC connections to the managed system and, depending on the execution option, also displays the following information:

    • Which systems were not reachable for which reasons (for example, no current ST-PI plug-in installed)

    • The total number of new users in each managed system, which can be processed further

    • Which new users could be identified using an e-mail address or a user name, and are therefore valid

The valid users are selected and can be automatically created as users and business partners in SAP Solution Manager.

    • Which new users have already been created as users and business partners in SAP Solution Manager.

If a business partner has already been created, the report checks whether the identification numbers in SAP Solution Manager and in the managed systems match, and whether the role Team Member has been assigned to the user.

If the identification numbers do not match, the report adds the correct identification number for the business partner, in SAP Solution Manager.

If SAP Solution Manager is operated by an SAP partner, and data separation is active, the customer number is added, in addition to the identification number.

    • Which new users and business partners the report would create because they have not been created in SAP Solution Manager yet

    • Whether central user administration (CUA) is active

If CUA is active, the CUA master system is displayed. In this case, the report creates users in the system.
