When you use this enhancement, you can organize tests with external components of IBM Rational, instead of SAP Solution Manager Test Workbench tools.

Note Note

This enhancement is not available by default. To use it, you must configure the SAP Solution Manager at IBM. You must activate the function explicitly in the SAP system.

For more information, see http://www.service.sap.com/solutionmanager. SAP Note 1480768 describes the installation of the connectors and related components.

End of the note.

SAP Solution Manager Connector for IBM Rational transfers business requirements documents and test objects to IBM Rational Quality Manager. The connector can also supply the applications IBM Rational ClearQuest with IT Service Management messages, and IBM Rational RequisitePro with business requirements from the SAP Solution Manager.

Integration

When you transfer the data that you have selected from SAP Solution Manager to the IBM Rational Quality Manager, the system creates, according to the IBM default settings in the IBM system:

  • Business requirements documents

  • Test cases for the test objects

The results of the test cases are documented in IBM Rational Quality Manager. After being saved in IBM Rational Quality Manager, the results are also available in SAP Solution Manager.

Prerequisites

  • To activate the integration of the IBM Rational test management tools and SAP IT Service Managment, you have performed the required activities in SAP Solution Manager Customizing, under   External Integration   Integration with IBM Rational Test Management Tools  .

  • You have, for example, linked the SAP Solution Manager project with the IBM Rational project, in the Project Administration (transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, and performed the following steps:

    1. You have edited the connection settings under   Edit   Connection to IBM Rational Project  .

    2. You have selected a Logical Port in the associated dialog box. The system assigns a project in the IBM Rational SAP connector.

  • To create test cases automatically, you have made the associated Mapping in IBM Rational Quality Manager.

  • To synchronize error messages with SAP Solution Manager IT Service Management messages, you have captured and saved the relevant IBM information, under SAP.

    Example Example

You have flagged error messages for creation in the IT Service Management.

    End of the example.

Features

The following graphic shows the basic components and the data exchange between the SAP system and IBM Rational:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Test Organization with IBM Rational

  • (A) Test Management

SAP Solution Manager transfers test data to IBM Rational Quality Manager. You can transfer process structures and business requirements to these components before the test and realization phase. The transfer is via the IBM Rational SAP Connector, which links an IBM Rational project to an SAP Solution Manager Project.

You can also use the following components of IBM Rational:

    • RequisitePro, to manage business requirements.

    • ClearQuest, to manage error messages and integration into IT Service Management.

  • (B) IT Service Management

    • ClearQuest replicates error messages to SAP Solution Manager. You can only process the messages in the IT Service Management there.

    • SAP Solution Manager synchronizes the changes in ClearQuest.

    Note Note

You can also start the process by creating an error message in SAP Solution Manager.

    End of the note.
Using the External IBM Rational Error Management

The following additional functions are available in the Business Blueprint (SOLAR01) and in the Configuration (SOLAR02):

  • In the Transfer to IBM Rational Project you assign documents and objects (which are transferred as test requirements or test objects) to the structure elements (scenarios, processes or process steps). The objects to be transferred are made available from their current assignment for the respective structure elements and their subelements. For further information, see Select Documents to Transfer to IBM Rational.

  • You transfer the Business Blueprint data you selected to IBM Rational Quality Manager. To transfer the data, in the transaction Business Blueprint or Konfiguration, choose   Business Blueprint/Configuration   Transfer to IBM Rational Project  .

  • You can also call up the dialog   Business Blueprint/Configuration   Send Data to IBM Rational Project   from the IBM connector.

  • You can use the document type to set which documents are sent as attachments to the structure nodes of the IBM Rational Quality Manager. Documents assigned to the structure node are passed as attachments. If you do not want all documents to be transferred, you can limit the transfer to specified document types. To do so, call transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, then   Edit   Connection to IBM Rational Quality Manager   Filter Document Types  .

  • You can see the results of the performed tests in SAP Solution Manager. If you wish to get additional details oF the test results, go to IBM Rational Quality Manager.

The IBM Rational Quality Manager test analysis is under Reposts.

Using the IBM Rational External Service Desk

You process messages (error messages replicated from IBM ClearQuest and SAP Solution Manager IT Service Management messages) only in SAP Solution Manager. The system synchronizes changes automatically, after IBM ClearQuest.

Note Note

Automatic synchronization works once you have sent the message once, manually, to SAP Solution Manager, with ClearQuest. You can use, for example, the action Send to External Service Desk in a message.

End of the note.

As messages can only be processed in SAP Solution Manager, this component also determines the message processing steps and status changes. For more information about the standard external service desk connection interface, see Connect an External Service Desk, and Working together with External Service Desk.

Note Note

In contrast to the default implementation with the strict separation of service requester and provider, SAP Solution Manager plays both roles when implementing the IBM Rational interface. SAP Solution Manager can propose a solution and close the message, at any time.

End of the note.

Activities

  1. To report an error:

Reporting an error in IBM Rational ClearQuest, with connection to IT Service Management

Create a message for IBM Rational ClearQuest

    1. Create an error message in the SAP input area of IBM Rational ClearQuest.

    2. Describe the error.

    Result:

    • The message is available in the IT Service Management WebClient UI.

    • The system shows the IBM Rational ClearQuest data in the message.

    1. Create a message in SAP Solution Manager, for example under   Common Tasks   New Message  .

    2. To pass the message to IBM Rational ClearQuest, under Action, choose Send to External Service Desk.

Result: IBM Rational ClearQuest can display the message.

  2. Process an SAP-relevant error message from IBM Rational ClearQuest in the SAP Solution Manager IT Service Management. The system automatically sends the changes to IBM Rational ClearQuest, and synchronizes the status there with the SAP status.

  3. Process the solution for the message in SAP Solution Manager.

  4. Close the message in SAP Solution Manager. The system sends the closure information to IBM Rational ClearQuest.
