The job request is the starting point of the job management process. End users create job requests for new jobs, job changes, and job deletion. Job requests undergo an end-to-end approval and implementation process, supported by the IT Service Management and Change Request Management process infrastructures.

Note Note

To ensure that new jobs and job scheduling changes go through the job request and approval process, you can set up job control.

Job control redirects users to Job Scheduling Management when they try to schedule or change jobs in the managed systems using scheduling transactions such as SM36 or SM37. For more information, see Job Control for Managed Systems.

Features

The Job Requests view of the Job Management work center is the central access point to all activities related to job requests. It provides the following functions:

  • Creating job requests

You can use the basic or detailed view.

  • Displaying job requests

Job requests are displayed in a list. You can choose a standard query or define your own queries. You can use Quick Criteria Maintenance to further restrict the display. When you select a job request in the list, its details are displayed below.

  • Editing job requests

  • Opening the linked CRM document

Every job request is linked to an incident or a request for change to handle the work flow. You can open these for further processing in the WebClient UI by clicking the link in the CRM Document column.

  • Activating or deactivating change control

When change control is active, the job request can only be edited if the associated CRM document has the status In Process and the user who wants to edit the job request is assigned as processor.

  • Creating a print view of a job request as a PDF document

    Note Note

You can use the form delivered by SAP or a customized form. For more information, see the Customizing for SAP Solution Manager under   Capabilities (Optional)   Job Scheduling Management   Extended Configuration  .
