Procedure documentationDownloading Analysis Projects or Check Rules to a Data Medium or Uploading them from a Data Medium Locate this document in the navigation structure

To reuse analysis projects or check rules in another implementation of the Solution Documentation Assistant, you can save the data in a file on a data medium, in the Content Interface view, and import it in another system by uploading it.

Example Example

  • To re-document your business processes in SAP Solution Manager, you want to upload Reverse Business Process Documentation (RBPD) content and create an analysis project from it.

For more information about Reverse Business Process Documentation, see https://service.sap.com/rbpd.

  • You want to reuse an analysis project that you use in a reference Solution Manager system in another Solution Manager system with a similar system landscape. You download the data from the reference system and upload it to the second Solution Manager system. On the second Solution Manager system you make adjustments and enhancements. You then upload the adjustments to your reference system and thus continually optimize your analysis project in the reference system.

End of the example.

You can also use the upload function to merge several analysis projects. In addition, you can merge the merged analysis projects with a file with check rules. If, for example, you combine two products in an analysis project, you do not need to create separate analysis projects and perform separate analyses, but instead receive a complete overview.

Prerequisites

You have created an analysis project or check step.

Procedure

Choose Content Interface.

Note Note

You can not only create check rules in the Content Interface view, but also in the Rule Database view.

End of the note.
Downloading an Analysis Project or Check Rules
  1. To download check rules or an analysis project to a data medium, choose Download Analysis Project.

  2. Choose the analysis project to download.

  3. To download one or more files with check rules to a data medium:

    1. Choose Download Check Rules.

    2. In the Rule Database view, choose one or more check rules.

  4. Choose Download.

The system generates a compressed XML file (*.zip) with the data.

  5. Select the data medium and save the file.

Uploading an Analysis Project or Check Rules
  1. Choose Upload Content.

  2. Choose Upload.

    A dialog box appears.

  3. Select the file and choose OK.

  4. To merge several analysis project or an analysis project and check rules, repeat step 3 for all analysis projects or check rules that you want to merge.

When analysis projects are merged, existing elements (check rules, for example) are not duplicated.

  5. Choose Start.

You branch to the Upload Content guided procedure. The content of the (merged) file is displayed. Business scenarios from different analysis projects are merged.

  6. Optional: You can exclude structure objects of an analysis project from the upload.

    Example Example

For example, you want to analyze only certain business scenarios for performance reasons.

    End of the example.

    To exclude structure objects:

    1. Choose Exclude Structure Objects.

    2. In the Selected column, deselect the objects that you want to exclude.

Only the selected objects are uploaded into the target analysis project.

Your selection only affects the target object.

    3. Confirm with OK.

    4. To copy logical components without check steps, deselect the Exclude Logical Components without Check Steps.

By activating the checkbox, the logical components with no step checks are excluded.

    Note Note

By default, logical components that are not used are not uploaded.

If you extend an analysis project and want to assign check steps to structure nodes, deselect the field Exclude Logical Components without Check Steps.

    End of the note.
  7. Choose Continue.

  8. Enter a name for the analysis project to be created.

  9. Specify whether existing check steps are to be overwritten or to remain unchanged.

  10. To protect SQL check steps with a password, choose Display Password Protection Options. This pushbutton is only visible when you upload a file which contains SQL check steps.

    1. Specify a name for all SQL check steps which are to be protected, which were passed with the file. This name helps you or your colleagues to find the SQL check steps in the rule database, when you want to edit them. The name could, for example, be a combination of the company name and the customer project.

    2. Specify a password according to the current security standards (SAP standard is at least 6 characters, and containing at least one number and one special character).

    Recommendation Recommendation

Protect SQL check rules with passwords, if you want to protect your intellectual property in the SQL check rules against download, copy, deletion or editing.

    End of the recommendation.

    Recommendation Recommendation

To ensure that you enter the password correctly, choose Create New Name. You are prompted to enter the password twice, to avoid typing errors.

    End of the recommendation.
  11. In the Logical Component in the Target System column, assign the logical component from the downloaded file (source) to the logical component in the target system.

    Note Note

The logical component, product and product version are displayed. You see the logical components that are used in the selected structure nodes.

Override the assignment of product and product version, if necessary, by assigning a logical component that was created for another product. To display all available logical components, choose All Values.

    End of the note.
  12. Choose Import.

The analysis project is uploaded and can be edited.

To upload additional content, branch to the created analysis project and start an analysis based on the uploaded analysis project.
