Procedure documentationAdjusting the Alert Inbox Parameters of Alerts Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can define the way how alerts behave in the Alert Inbox. For example, you can define the following:

  • How long alerts are to be retained before being removed from the Alert Inbox

  • Whether alerts are to be transferred into your SAP NetWeaver BW system, to allow reporting and trend analyses

  • In which language alert messages or log messages are to be output

Procedure

  1. Choose Set up Business Process Monitoring.

  2. In the Context Navigation, expand the respective solution node.

  3. Under Cross Functions, choose the Monitoring Activities template node and define a template.

  4. Optional: To create an alert parameter set, choose Add.

  5. To configure the default alert parameter set, or an alert parameter set you have added, adapt the following data:

    • Parameter Set Name: For example, name the language and retention time of the alert.

    • Alert Aggregation Start: If you use Service Level Reporting, you define the number of days after which an alert is aggregated on basis of days, weeks and months. For more information, see Using Service Level Reporting.

    • Alert Retention (d): You define the number of days an alert is retained in the Alert Inbox before being removed.

    • Aggregated Data Retention (d): You define the number of days aggregated alert data is retained before being removed.

The aggregated data retention depends on your Service Level Reporting requirements. You have to know how far into the past you want to have the option to have the alert statics displayed in your service level report.

    • Log Messages Language: The language in which the log messages are written

    • Alert Message Language: The language in which the alert message are written

    • Keep Data for BW: To allow reporting, the alerts are transferred into the BW system if you set this indicator.

    • Is Default: If you create a new monitoring object, the default parameter set is assigned automatically if you set this indicator.

    • Number of Usages: You check the number of monitoring objects a alert parameter set is assigned to.

  6. Save your entries.

  7. If you have created a new alert parameter set, on the Alert Reorganization and Others tab page of the respective monitoring object, assign it to the monitoring object.
