This work center is the central point of access to all functions with which you monitor business processes and data consistency.

Prerequisites

You have authorization for this work center. See the SAP Solution Manager Security Guide on SAP Service Marketplace:   http://service.sap.com/instguides   SAP Components   SAP Solution Manager <current release>  .

You have created at least one solution, and set up Business Process Monitoring with business processes, business process steps and technical interfaces.

Features

Business Processes Monitoring

The Business Process Monitoring work area allows you to switch between different business processes for which alerts appeared in the business process monitoring.

The work area displays the active business processes, number of key figures and alert types for these processes. When you choose a business process, you see the following details:

  • The business process steps and interfaces.

  • The monitoring objects and key figures.

  • Graphic view, which gives an overview of the business processes assigned to solutions.

Navigation

From this view, you can navigate directly to the alert inbox, by choosing the links under different alert types across table views.

Alert Inbox

The alert inbox gives an overview of critical alerts (number of open alerts and status of alerts) from monitoring areas such as business process monitoring, data consistency monitoring and job monitoring. You have a list of alerts for the business process steps of a solution.

When you select an alert, detailed information about the business context is shown, in the Alerts table:

The system groups alerts by color, according to their rating:

Rating

Meaning

Red

Alarm/very critical alerts

Yellow

Warning/critical alerts

Gray

Inactive/undefined alerts

Note Note

Inactive alerts occur if an agent can no longer report an alert, for example in case of a system failure.

End of the note.

Green

Navigation

From this view, you can navigate into the Process graphic view by choosing the Navigate to Monitoring option in the business context table.

Data Consistency Management

Data consistency management contains structured, context-specific instructions for all data consistency activities.

Here is an overview of already created tasks and tools for checking and restoring data consistency. You can call up the corresponding sessions or create new ones.

You can get the system to suggest tasks and tools for checking and restoring data consistency. The respective proposals depend on certain events as well as the specified SAP product or business object.

Reports: Business Process Operations

You can extract the data entered in Business Process Monitoring to an SAP NetWeaver BW system. In this system, for example, the data for the past weeks and months can be used to determine trends. This enables you to identify and avoid problem situations early on.

Depending on the system settings and your authorizations, you can open, change, or delete existing reports (SAP NetWeaver BW templates). When doing so, you access an SAP NetWeaver BW-based dashboard.

Business Process Analysis

You can analyze throughput and backlogs, graphically. The statistical analysis of your business processes allows you to:

  • Compare organizational units (such as sales organizations) with each other, so that you can localize bottlenecks and analyze their causes.

  • Identify trends, prevent critical developments, and optimize the implementation of your business processes.
