Object documentationInteractive Reports for Hosts - Availability Locate this document in the navigation structure

Probably the most important metric for a host is its availability. You can use this report to display the development over time of the availability values for your administered hosts:

  • Host Availability (  <host name>   Availability   Host Availability  )

The report displays the availability of the chosen host. The availability is determined using an ICMP ping.

Note Note

  • For information about how you can specify the desired systems and the time interval to be displayed, and how to call interactive reporting, see Using Interactive Reporting.

  • For information about the different display options for the reports for hosts with regard to metrics and threshold values, see Interactive Reports for Hosts.

End of the note.

Integration

Note that, in the SAP default settings for technical monitoring, the Host not available event on which this report is based is not active. To supply the report with values, you therefore need to create your own template in which this event is active and assign it to the desired host. Proceed as follows:

  1. Switch to the SAP Solution Manager configuration by calling transaction SOLMAN_SETUP.

  2. Switch to the step   Technical Monitoring   Template Management  .

  3. You want to change a template for a host. Therefore, in the navigation tree for this step, expand the subtree Host (Server), and choose the relevant operating system.

  4. Switch to change mode and choose Create Customer-Defined Template. Assign a name to the template on the Template Settings tab page, and save the template.

  5. If you want to transport the template, enter the package to which you want to assign the template. If you do not want to transport the template, select Local Object.

  6. In the template, switch to the Alerts tab page, and, for the Host not available alert, set the Active indicator. Save the template.

  7. If you want to use the template as the default template for hosts with the selected operating system that you add to technical monitoring, in the navigation area, choose Host (Server), switch to the Default Assignment tab page, and, for the row in which the affected operating system is displayed in the Product columns, select your template in the Default Template: Customer-Defined column. Save the assignment.

  8. To assign the template to any host, first choose the host in the Define Scope step by switching to the Hosts tab page and selecting the relevant host.

  9. To assign and activate your template for the selected host, switch to the Monitoring Setup step, choose the Assign Templates button in the row for the host, and select your template from the dropdown listbox. Choose the Apply and Activate pushbutton.

  10. Perform these steps for all operating systems and hosts for which you require values in the availability report.
