You must execute this step if you want to run Activity-based SDA transports, activity transports, or SCA/SDA exports with the Export service.
The upload system is a virtual system that has to be created as a non-ABAP source system so that the Transport Organizer can be used in this system. The Upload system is for creating transport requests to which archives can be attached. The upload system does not require a runtime system.
Create the upload system as a non-ABAP source system without target system settings.
More information, see Defining and Configuring Non-ABAP Systems.
Create the transport routes of your system landscape including the upload system .
Depending on whether you want to use Activity-based SDA transports or the Activity Transport, proceed as follows:
Activity-Based SDA Transports
Create the upload system as the first system in your transport route.
Connect the following systems with consolidation or delivery routes:
UPLOAD - DEV: Consolidation routes
DEV - QA: Consolidation routes
QA - PROD: Delivery routes
For more information, see Creating Transport Routes, Creating Consolidation Routes, and Creating Delivery Routes.
Note
With this configuration you can also execute SCA transports including runtime objects with the Export Service.
Activity Transport
You have the following options:
Create the upload system as the first system in your transport route.
If you select this option then you must transport the required archives in to all systems of your landscape in order.
Connect the following systems with consolidation or dcelivery routes:
UPLOAD - DEV: Consolidation routes
DEV - QA: Consolidation route and delivery route
QA - PROD: Delivery routes
For more information, see Creating Transport Routes, Creating Consolidation Routes, and Creating Delivery Routes.
You create a transport group with all systems of your transport landscape.
If you select this option then you can transport the required archives into all systems of your landscape at the same time.
Find more information in Creating and Changing Target Groups.
Note
With this configuration you can also execute SCA transports including sources with the Export Service.
You have created the Upload system. Before you can use the transport types you require, you first have to upload the basis libraries and sources delivered by SAP into the Upload system and transport them on.
