With the Development Infrastructure - Configuration Service UI you can manage development configurations in your landscape.

Configuration Service UI Layout

After opening the configuration service UI, the message that development configuration was loaded successfully appears on the top half of the screen for the Confguration Service.

In the Editing Development Configurations area you have the following options:

  • Using Refresh you can reset the properties of the development configuration to the last status that was saved.

For example, you can use this function if you want to reset changes that you have made but not yet saved.

  • Using Save you can save the changes you have made.

  • Using the Download Development Configuration link you can download the version of the development configuration that was last saved as an XML file.

The name of the development configuration is displayed as write-protected in the middle screen area. You cannot select another development configuration. You can specify a short description of the development configuration or a preexisting description is displayed.

In the Copy to Overwrite Local Settings and Software Component Definition area, you can copy the definition of a development configuration to the development configuration that is currently loaded.

For more information, see Copy Settings of an Existing Development Configuration.

In the Software Landscape Directory, Settings, and Software Component Definition area you can display and modify the settings for the development configuration using the tab page.

To save the changes, choose Save.

If you do not save the changes and want to reset the development configuration properties to their previous status, select Refresh .

Note Note

You cannot modify the System Landscape Directory tab page data (SLD URL, user, password, and URL of CM Services) in the Configuration Service. Some of the Local Settings tab page data cannot be changed. For example, this includes the communication user and password for the Build Tool Location and the Repository Location, as well as the type of the runtime system, host, post, user, and password for runtime systems. You can modify the related values in TMS (transaction STMS).

End of the note.

Tab page: System Landscape Directory

This tab page contains the URL to the System Landscape Directory, as well as the user that is used for logging on to the SLD, and the relevant password. You must specify this data in the TMS when creating a non-ABAP system with development configurations.

The CM Services URL contains the server where the CM Services run. This URL is used by SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and CBS to communicate with the CM Services.

Tab page: Local Settings

On this tab page, you can perform the following settings:

Tab Page: Software Component Definition

On the Software Component Definition tab page you can assign software components that are to be developed in the development component or remove assigned software components.

You can take the information on the vendor, name, software component release, whether the software component is to be developed, as well as the caption and the description of a software component from the list.

If the To Be Developed checkbox is selected then the software component can be developed in the development configuration.

If you click on the triangle symbol in the first column that relates to a software component, then you can display those software components that are dependent on the selected software component.

You can also classify dependent software components as To Be Developed by selecting the checkbox. In this case the dependent software component is also displayed as a root node of its own.

You cannot change dependencies between software components in the Configuration Service. This is only possible in the System Landscape Directory.

The following functions are available:

  • Using Add SC you can assign a new software component.

  • You can delete a software component by choosing Remove SC.
