In data consistency management, you can identify tools provided by SAP for checking and restoring data consistency. These tools simplify cross-system comparison of two systems.

SAP has specified the combinations of products and application tables or database tables for which each tool is available. If the user specifies the parameters he or she requires, the system identifies the appropriate tools.

Furthermore, you have the option of including your own tools in data consistency management.

Prerequisites

For more information, see Data Consistency Management.

Procedure

Proposing Data Consistency Tools

A guided procedure is available for determining suitable tools. In this procedure, you enter specific attributes to identify predefined tools. To call the guided procedure, choose Propose Data Consistency Tools. The guided procedure consists of the following steps:

  • First step: Create a session. To do this, enter the name of the session.

  • Second step: Select the filter criteria.

Enter the solution, the logical component and the product for the session.

The product is used to specify which business objects or application tables you can select.

    Caution Caution

Enter either a business object or an application table. An application table can refer to multiple business objects.

    End of the caution.
  • Third and fourth steps: Check and confirm your entries.

The newly created session for determining tools is displayed in the list.

Calling up and Editing a Session with Data Consistency Tools
  1. In the list, click on the name of a newly created session (status Initial).

  2. The Data Consistency Toolbox is displayed.

  3. If there is a green checkmark next to DCT Work Center Search, the search was successful.

If one or more errors occurred, information about the errors will appear. To rectify errors, follow the instructions.

  4. Expand Search for Data Consistency Tools.

    • You can view and change search criteria under Search Criteria.

    • You can access the result of the search under Search Result.

  5. The tools identified on the basis of the attributes you specified are listed under Search Result.

If you scroll to the right, you will find various pieces of information, including the program name, tool ID and a description of the tool.

  6. In the list, select the checkboxes for the tools that you wish to execute.

  7. Choose Generate Checks. This generates the tools you selected, which are then displayed at the top left of the tree structure, under Search Result.

  8. In the tree structure under Search Result, select a tool. If you require information about the execution, open the allocated SAP note.

  9. To execute the tool, select the button that specifies the transaction, such as SE38.

  10. After executing the tool, enter an evaluation and save it. The evaluation is displayed next to the tool after you save.

    Note Note

The overall evaluation displayed in the overview list is the highest evaluation assigned in the session.

    End of the note.
Displaying Data Consistency Tools

Sessions already created with data consistency tools are listed in the session list.

A newly created session has the status Initial. If a session has been edited, it has the status In process.

The list contains the following information: the name of the session, whether it is a tool or a task, the result, the initial product, the creation and change dates, a manual evaluation from a user, the status and the allocated solution. You have the following options:

  • You can filter the list on the basis of certain criteria, such as solution or event.

  • You can call up a session by clicking on its name.

  • You can finally delete a session that you no longer require. Choose Delete Session.

Displaying the Details for a Session

If you select a session for which tools have been selected in the list, the following information is displayed in the details area:

  • Tool Search Overview tab

This contains a list of tools in the session with the following information: the evaluation entered by the user, the logical component, a description, and a user comment, if these were entered.
