Compare Customizing 

Use

You have an SAP system landscape with an SAP R/3 System and at least one other system, for example SAP MDM. You want to compare the customizing in one or more target systems with the customizing in a source system.

Prerequisites

You have created a system landscape and possibly a synchronization group, as described under Customizing Scout Prerequisites.

You must download the list of customizing objects to be synchronized from the application system before the first comparison. You can only then use the Customizing Scout.

Use the authorizations in the SAP Solution Manager roles for the comparison.

Procedure

       1.      To start the Customizing Scout:

¡        Choose Tools → Customizing → Distribution → Customizing Scout in the SAP menu.

¡        Enter the transaction SCOUT.

The system displays the Customizing Scout initial screen.

       2.      Choose a system landscape and one or more system roles.

You can choose a project in the SAP Solution Manager from the possible entries help. The system then uses the project system landscape for the comparison.

       3.      Choose Display Selection.

The system shows you a list of all systems which belong to your selected system landscape or to your transport domain. You can see all existing comparisons, including comparisons with systems which are not in the selected project, by double-clicking on a system.

       4.      To compare the customizing objects in one or more target systems with customizing objects in a source system, mark one or more target systems in the displayed list, and choose Compare.

All selected logical systems are displayed in the following dialog box. The existence of an RFC destination is checked in the background. If not, a log is displayed.

       5.      Specify a synchronization group or choose all synchronization objects for the component.

       6.      Enter a source system and a source client.

       7.      If you are only comparing one logical system with an SAP R/3 comparison system, choose comparison in dialog or in the background. If you are comparing several logical systems with one R/3 comparison system, the comparison is made in the background.

       8.      When you perform a comparison in the background:

                            a.      Specify a server for the background job in the following dialog screen, if required.

                            b.      Specify and save your background processing start time.

The system checks whether you have the authorizations for such a comparison and whether an RFC destination exists. If not, a log is displayed.

A list of compared objects is displayed. Both the processing status and the comparison result for each object are listed.

Complete comparison in background

When the complete comparison has been made, you can select a system and choose Refresh. You can then display this last comparison.

The system gives you an overview of all customizing objects in the target system. If you need an overview of which customizing objects in the source system correspond to the customizing objects in the target system, choose the menu Goto → Display Structure Comparison in the Customizing Scout: Object Comparison dialog screen.

Object overview

The object overview shows you the technical name, and the description in the target system, of each customizing object. If the customizing object has a synchronization object, its technical name is also displayed.

Each customizing object has two status values:

·        Comparison status

Type of any differences found. Assigned automatically.

·        Processing status

Distinguishes between objects which have been processed and those which have not.

Processing status can be assigned manually. The next comparison changes the processing status of objects with no differences from Open () to Finished ().

The possible status values are:

You can list these values in the worklist legend.

Comparison may not be possible for the following reasons:

·        Process cancelled

·        The user has no display authorization in the source or target system

·        Communication error (RFC)

·        source or target system crash
