You can save all of the settings that you make to optimize the test scope as an optimization approach. You can reuse this optimization approach or share it with other users. The optimization approach contains the following settings:

  • Options for test plan generation

  • Optimization options

  • Required test coverage

  • Test scope selection using the graphical view

  • Manual inclusion or exclusion of nodes

Procedure

Creating the Optimization Approach
  1. Choose New.

    The New Optimization Approach dialogue is displayed.

  2. Enter a technical name and a short description for the new optimization approach.

    If you select the Global Optimization Approach checkbox, other users will be able to access this optimization approach.

  3. Optional: Choose Description.

    An editor is opened. Here you can describe the optimization approach in more detail.

  4. Save.

Saving the Optimization Approach
  1. Choose Save.

    If you previously saved the optimization approach, the existing optimization approach is overwritten.

    If you have not yet saved the optimization approach: The New Optimization Approach dialogue is displayed.

    1. Enter a technical name and a short description for the new optimization approach.

      If you select the Global Optimization Approach checkbox, other users will be able to access this optimization approach.

    2. Optional: Choose Description.

      An editor is opened. Here you can describe the optimization approach in more detail.

    3. Save.

Adjusting and Saving a Description for a Optimization Approach
  1. Choose Change and Save Properties.

    The Saving the Optimization Approach dialogue is displayed.

  2. Enter an appropriate short description for the changed optimization approach.

    If you select the Global Optimization Approach checkbox, other users will be able to access this optimization approach.

  3. Optional: Choose Description.

    An editor is opened. Here you can describe the optimization approach in more detail.

  4. Save.

Saving the Changed Optimization Approach under a New Name
  1. Choose Save as.

  2. If you have changed the settings: Choose whether you want to also save the changes in the currently displayed optimization approach.

  3. In the Save Optimization Approach as dialogue, enter a technical name and a short description for the new optimization approach.

    If you select the Global Optimization Approach checkbox, other users will be able to access this optimization approach.

  4. Optional: Choose Description.

    An editor is opened. Here you can describe the optimization approach in more detail.

  5. Save.

Opening an Existing Optimization Approach
  1. Choose Open.

  2. If you have changed the settings: Choose whether you want to save the changes in the currently displayed optimization approach.

  3. Choose the required optimization approach.

    The list contains all optimization approaches that you created under your own user name, as well as all global optimization approaches.

  4. Choose Open.

Deleting Optimization Approaches
  1. Choose Open.

  2. If you have changed the settings: Choose whether you want to save the changes in the currently displayed optimization approach.

  3. Choose the required optimization approach.

    The list contains all optimization approaches that you created under your own user name, as well as all global optimization approaches.

  4. Choose Delete.

  5. Confirm that you want to delete the optimization approach.

Copying Optimization Approaches
  1. Choose Open.

  2. If you have changed the settings: Choose whether you want to save the changes in the currently displayed optimization approach.

  3. Choose the required optimization approach.

    The list contains all optimization approaches that you created under your own user name, as well as all global optimization approaches.

  4. Choose Copy.

  5. Enter a new technical name, an appropriate short description, and optionally a more detailed description.

  6. Save.

Editing a Description for an Optimization Approach
  1. Choose Description.

  2. Edit the description.

  3. Confirm your entries with OK.

  4. Save the changed optimization approach.
