Use

If you have high security requirements, you can use Secure Network Communications (SNC) to protect RFC connections in the Transport Management System.

For more information on SNC, see SAPNet - Web Frontend under the alias systemmanagement . Then choose Security Secure Network Communications.

Note

Automatic support for configuring SNC-secured TMS connections is only available for SAP Systems as of Release 4.6D. Note that, for technical reasons, connections that generate a logon screen cannot be protected by SNC.

You must take into account the following restrictions when you use SNC to protect RFC connections between SAP Systems:

Prerequisites

The SAP Systems in your domain are set so that they can use SNC-secured RFC connections to communicate with each other (as described in the SNC manual). You do not need to convert the whole system landscape at once. Instead, you can choose to do it system by system.

Note

Remember that you must only prevent unsecured RFC access to systems once all systems in the domain have been converted to SNC. Take into account the restrictions on TMS mentioned above when you activate the SNC-secured connections for your SAP Systems.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the SAP System that functions as the transport domain controller.
  2. Call Transaction STMS.
  3. Choose Overview ® Systems. The system overview appears.
  4. Choose Goto ® Transport domain. The screen Display TMS Configuration: Domain <domain> appears.
  5. Choose the Management tab.
  6. Choose the change mode.
  7. Under Security options, select the SNC protection option Active.
  8. Save the changes and distribute the configuration.

Note

If you want to use SNC, the TMS domain controller must receive any SNC-specific information about the systems it controls. To send this information, choose Copy SNC information and then distribute it.

Result

The RFC connections between the systems in your transport domain are protected by SNC. If you use a domain link to communicate with systems in another domain, this connection is also protected by SNC.
