If you use Exception Management routinely, you can make settings directly in the application, without going back to the SAP Solution Manager configuration.

Integration

To configure exception management, go to the   Root Cause Analysis work center,   Exception Management   Configuration  .

Prerequisites

You have made the exception management settings, in the   SAP Solution Manager Configuration work center,   Managed Systems Configuration   Manual Configuration  .

Features

In the exception management, you can display the following information, and perform the following functions, under Configuration:

  • The Overview tab lists all systems connected to SAP Solution Manager, and shows whether they monitor with Exception Management.

  • If you monitor multi-step exceptions with the instrumentation platform, you can specify the monitoring information to be displayed for the connected systems, in the Instrumentation Platform tab.

For more information, see Exception Management Instrumentation Platform.

  • In the Periodic Tasks tab, specify how long the system retains the exception data in the exception management repository.

  • If you monitor multi-step exceptions, you can specify which business process type belongs to which combination of business process category and business process sub-category, in the Repository tab. This assignment ensures that there is a detailed error source description for multi-step exceptions, in the exception management.

  • The Self-Monitoring tab shows the exception management extractor logs. The log shows when the extractors last sent exceptions from the managed systems, the quantity of data, and whether there were any problems.
