Process documentationConsistent Business Function Project Scope Locate this document in the navigation structure

You need a consistent project scope of business functions to be able to activate them. When creating a consistent project scope, there are the following dependencies:

  • Logical components – Business functions:

The product instance and product version of a logical component, and its systems, must match the product instance and product version of the business function.

Make the required settings in the Business Blueprint or in the Configuration, in the Business Functions tab. See Create and Edit Project/Solution Structure for further information.

  • System – Business functions:

Industry-specific business functions and the higher-level business function set are interdependent. Only one business function set is selectable for an ABAP-based system. If you select a business function set, you determine the selectable industry-specific business functions, and vice versa.

Make the required entries in the Business Function Scope screen. See Define Business Function Scope for more information.

An industry-specific business function set that has already been activated in the managed system can no longer be changed.

  • Logical component – System:

With the system role, you assign systems, depending on the installed product instance and the active product version, to the logical components. If the active product version in the higher-level product system changes, this can cause inconsistencies.

Make the required entries in the Project Administrationverwaltung, in the System Landscape tab. For further information, see the System Landscape tab.

Business function assignment dependencies

Prerequisites

You have created logical components with the production instances which you need for your business processes, in the Solution Manager System Landscape. For more information, see Editing Logical Components.

Process

  1. Choose the business functions for the logical components, in the Business Function Scope screen.

    • You system landscape is not available:

      1. You specify one business function set for each logical component, depending on product instance and product version.

      2. Add the business functions:

        • industry-specific business functions from the previously-specified business function set

        • independent business functions

        • Business functions which you have already assigned to the logical component, in another project or solution

      3. You have assigned systems to the logical components, in the Project Administration, in the System Landscape tab, depending on your previous entries.

    • You system landscape is not available:

You specify a business function set, depending on the product instance and product version of the logical component, or the business functions in the system.

      1. You specify a business function set, depending on the product instance and product version of the logical component, or the business functions in the system.

      2. Add the business functions:

        • industry-specific business functions from the previously-specified business function set

        • independent business functions

        • Business functions which you have already assigned to the logical component, in another project or solution

  2. You check for each logical component, whether the assignment of business functions, across projects and solutions, leads to a consistent status. Resolve any inconsistencies.

Result

The project scope of business functions is consistent for a logical component, and meets the basic prerequisites for the activation. Before activating business functions, the application checks again for dependent and inconsistent business functions that have already been activated in the system. Business functions already activated lead to additions or restrictions in the scope, which are displayed.

You may have to return to the Business Function Scope screen, to adjust the scope.
