In general, notification settings can be maintained at the following levels:

Level

Purpose

Global

To define the default settings for all templates relevant to System Monitoring. For more information, see Step 2.4 Default Settings while configuring System Monitoring using SOLMAN_SETUP.

Template

To define the notification settings for alert types and managed objects in a template. It overrides the settings made at the global level (default).

Managed object

To define notification settings for a managed object. It overrides the settings made at the global and template level. This is done in a different step.

Alert type

To define notification settings for an alert type. It overrides the settings made at the global, template, and managed object level.

This procedure maintains notification settings in an SAP template or custom template. You can modify this setting for an alert type or template, if required.

Prerequisites

You have ensured the following for the SOLMAN_BTC user using the transaction SU01:

  • Valid e-mail ID

  • SAP_NOTIF_ADMIN role has been maintained

Procedure

For a Template
  1. Navigate to the SAP or custom template.

  2. Choose Edit.

  3. On the Template Settings tab page, activate auto-notifications.

  4. To maintain recipients in Notification Management, on the Notifications tab page, choose Maintain Global Recipients.

  5. You are navigated to Notification Management.

  6. Add the recipients and recipient lists.

  7. On the Notifications tab page of Configuration Explorer, choose Add.

  8. In the Add Recipients/Recipient Lists window, add the recipients.

    If a recipient or recipient list is deleted from Notification Management, its status changes to Obsolete in Recipients and Recipient Lists table.

  9. If you are editing a custom template and you want to activate auto-notifications for specific work modes, perform the following:

    1. Choose Expert Mode.

    2. In the Work-Mode-Specific Template Settings screen area, make the required settings.

For an Alert
  1. Navigate to the SAP or custom template.

  2. Choose   Alerts   Notifications  .

  3. To maintain recipients in Notification Management, choose Maintain Global Recipients.

  4. You are navigated to Notification Management.

  5. Add the recipients and recipient lists.

  6. In Configuration Explorer, choose Add.

  7. In the Add Recipients/Recipient Lists window, add the recipients.

    If a recipient or recipient list is deleted from Notification Management, its status changes to Obsolete in Recipients and Recipient Lists table.

  8. If you are editing a custom template and you want to activate auto-notifications for specific work modes, perform the following:

    1. Choose Expert Mode.

    2. In the Work-Mode-Specific Alert Settings screen area, make the required settings.
