Use

When you work with the Transport Management System (TMS), you must log on using your name and password to all the systems where you want to make changes, for example, activating transport routes or performing imports. This may be time consuming in larger system landscapes. By using TMS Trusted Services, you can set your transport domains so that you do not have to go through this logon procedure repeatedly, if you have the relevant authorization in the target system.

Note

Remember that this only applies to the systems of one domain.

Prerequisites

Before you use TMS Trusted Services, check if this conforms with your security concept. Only use TMS Trusted Services if you have the same security measures for all your systems, because the least safe system in the transport domain determines the security of all the systems in the transport domain.

Note

If your transport domain controller is configured based on an SAP System with Release 4.6B, refer to Note 179335.

Caution

Only activate TMS Trusted Services if the user names for all the systems and clients in your transport domain are unique.

For all actions, the TMS records which user started which action from which system ( Alert Viewer).

Procedure

  1. Log on to the SAP system functioning as the transport domain controller.
  2. Call Transaction STMS.
  3. Choose Overview ® Systems.

    4. The system overview appears.

  4. Choose Goto ® Transport domain.

    5. The screen Display TMS Configuration: Domain <Domain name> appears.

  5. Choose the Management tab.
  6. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to switch to change mode.
  7. Under Security options select Activate Trusted Services.
  8. Save the changes and distribute the configuration.

Result

TMS Trusted Services are active for the entire transport domain. The authorization is checked in the target system immediately for the user in the source system. A logon screen appears from the target system only if this user in client 000 of the target system does not have the proper authorization, for example, to import a request.

Example

User MILLER is logged on to the SAP System DEV in client 010 and works in this system with TMS. MILLER wants to import a transport request into the SAP System PRD. Since MILLER is registered in system PRD in client 000 as a user with all authorizations in the CTS, the import may be performed without MILLER having to log on to system PRD using a password and user name.
