Function documentationVehicle Sales

Vehicle sales representatives can use the vehicle sales functions at the dealer's location to configure vehicles, create orders for vehicles, and find available vehicles at the importer's location.

Dealers can transfer vehicles from one location to another. The dealer portal therefore uses real time data and search criteria to enable dealers to search for a vehicle at the end customer's request. If there is not a suitable vehicle available, the vehicle sales representative can create an order in the dealer portal for the desired vehicle, based on the current vehicle prices and configuration options. The importer uses the dealer portal to report changes in production or vehicle deliveries to the dealer, so that the vehicle sales representative can immediately inform the end customer.

Integration

If the dealer portal for vehicle sales and the Vehicle Management System (VMS) are installed on different systems, the dealer portal uses an RFC connnection to communicate with the back-end system.

Prerequisites

For many Customizing settings, you can use Switch BC sets that contain the system settings required for vehicle sales in the dealer portal. You can tailor these settings to meet your requirements in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Logistics Execution Next navigation step Vehicle Management System (VMS) Next navigation step Dealer Portal End of the navigation path.

In addition to the automatic settings of the BC sets, you have made the following settings:

  • In Customizing for the Dealer Portal:

If the dealer portal and the back-end system are installed on different systems, you must define an RFC destination in the Customizing activity Define Back-End RFC Destination, so that the dealer portal can communicate with the back-end system of the Vehicle Management System.

  • In Customizing for the Vehicle Management System (VMS):

You have defined the organizational roles in the Customizing activity Define VMS Roles, since users can only work with the dealer portal if they are assigned to an organizational role.

You have defined comprehensive organizational roles in the Customizing activity Define Comprehensive Organizational Roles. You have assigned organizational roles to these comprehensive organizational roles so that dealer portal users can work with several organizational roles.

SAP NetWeaver Business Client for HTML

You have assigned the SAP_COCKPIT_DPVMS role to authorized users (such as vehicle sales representatives) in the back-end system (transaction PFCG). This role contains a user menu for vehicle sales that is available in the dealer portal to users who have been assigned to this role.
