Features

Enhancement for Dependency Maintenance Table

With this feature, you can view and maintain the object dependencies of a whole product structure in a data grid view in the dependency maintenance table. This data grid view allows you to do the following:

  • Export the table to Microsoft excel

  • Select characteristic values for display in the table

  • Benefit from various usability improvements

You can change to the data grid view using one of the following options:

  • Select the Switch to Data Grid View checkbox in Customizing.

  • Select the Switch to Data Grid View checkbox in the User Settings on the PLM Web UI.

    Note Note

Before you can switch to data grid view on the PLM Web UI, make sure that you set the Switch to Data Grid View field to Visible on the Settings to Display tab in the Maintain Default User Settings for Product Structure Management Customizing activity under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step Objects in PLM Web UI Next navigation step Product Structure and Assembly Management End of the navigation path.

    End of the note.
Enhancements for Change Number Handling

With this feature, the active change number, also known as the session change number, is assigned automatically to the variants, relationships, and geometric instances that you create, change, or delete with history on the PLM Web UI.

To enable this feature, settings are required in the Additional Settings Customizing activity under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step Objects in PLM Web UI Next navigation step Product Structure and Assembly Management End of the navigation path.

Enhancements for Header Data Creation

With this feature, you can control how the system automatically creates the header data for product structures, and you can specify the plant and usage that the system uses for creating the header data in Customizing.

The relevant settings are available in the following Customizing activities under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step Objects in PLM Web UI Next navigation step Product Structure and Assembly Management End of the navigation path:

  • Define Settings for Product Structure

  • BAdI: Control of Header Data Creation

Note Note

The usage and plant that you enter when you create or change a product structure on the PLM Web UI override the values that are defined in Customizing.

The usage and plant can also be specified in the User Settings on the PLM Web UI. The Customizing settings override the values that are entered here.

The usage and plant you define in the Define Settings for Product Structure Customizing activity override the plant and usage you define in the Customizing activities for user settings.

End of the note.
Enhanced Maintenance of Objects with History Requirement

This feature allows you to do the following:

  • Maintain links (relationships involving product families, product views, and product items) between nodes historically. In Customizing, if you choose History Maintenance Required ffor a relationship type, you can only maintain nodes that use this relationship type with an active change number assigned.

  • Maintain the data of the objects (product variant, product item variant, assembly header, and assembly item) historically. In Customizing, if the indicator for history requirement is selected, you can create new objects when an active change number is assigned and you can only edit an object that has a change number.

    Note Note

When the switch for change number handling in the Additional Settings Customizing activity under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step Objects in PLM Web UI Next navigation step Product Structure and Assembly Management End of the navigation path is activated, the system behaves as follows:

    • If an active change number is assigned, a non-historical object without a change state can be edited.

    • If an active change number is assigned, and none of the change states of an object with history requirement is the same as the active change number, that object can be edited.

    • If an active change number is assigned, and an object with history requirement has the same change number as the active change number, the object with this change state can be edited.

    • If there is no active change number assigned, the objects cannot be edited.

    End of the note.

The following Customizing activities affect the maintenance of data for variants and links on the PLM Web UI. You can find them under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step Basic Data Next navigation step Integrated Product Engineering Next navigation step iPPE Object Administration End of the navigation path:

  • Define iPPE Variant Types

  • Define General iPPE Relationship Types

Mass Replacement of Change Number

This feature enables you to replace the same change number associated with multiple objects with a new change number. The feature is available for the following objects:

  • Product Variant

  • Product Item Variant

  • Assembly Header

  • Assembly Item

Copy of Product Assembly Header with Change Number

This feature enables you to copy an assembly header to a new assembly header by using an active change number. The system assigns the assembly items of the original assembly header to the new assembly header as follows:

  • If the assembly item of the original assembly header has the same change number as the active change number, the assembly item is directly assigned to the new assembly header.

  • If the assembly item of the original assembly header has a change number that is different from the active change number, the assembly item with the active change number is assigned to the new assembly header.

In addition, when the active change number is different from the change states of the assembly item that are assigned to the original assembly header, you can use a Business Add-In to do the following:

  • Decide which change state of the assembly item is to be copied to the new assembly item

  • Assign the new assembly item with the active change number to the new assembly header

The related settings are available in the BAdI: Copy Function of Assembly Header under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step Objects in PLM Web UI Next navigation step Product Structure and Assembly Management End of the navigation path.

To enable this feature, settings are required in the Additional Settings Customizing activity under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Next navigation step PLM Web User Interface Next navigation step Objects in PLM Web UI Next navigation step Product Structure and Assembly Management End of the navigation path.
