Codes ensure that issues can be entered in a standardized way and therefore be evaluated automatically. In Plant Maintenance, codes describe damage and malfunctions, the causes of the damage as well as its maintenance and repair, all of which is entered as technical findings in the plant maintenance history.
In Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
under , you have defined catalogs with code groups and codes.
If you want to be able to copy the long texts and documents assigned to damage codes, cause codes, activity codes, and task codes to the notification, you must have activated the business function Simplified Management of EAM Functions 5 (LOG_EAM_SIMPLICITY_5
).
You can only assign documents to notification codes if you also activate the Document Link to Code
switch in Customizing under .
If you wish to retrospectively deactivate codes that have already been used, you have to activate the business function EAM/QM, Deactivation of Codes (LOG_EAM_QM_CODE_DEACT
). The Deactivated
checkbox then becomes available in Customizing in the Change Codes
view for catalog maintenance. You can only deactivate codes if they are not part of a selected set.
When you enter damages, causes, activities, or tasks in a maintenance notification, select the appropriate codes and copy them to the respective tables. You can create activities and tasks for the entire notification or just for one damage.
In Customizing, you can enter long texts for your codes as well as assign documents to them. If you use these codes to enter malfunctions during notification processing, you can copy the long texts and documents of the codes to the maintenance notifications. You can copy long texts and documents of codes for damages, causes, activities, and tasks at notification header level and while entering tasks and activities for damages.
Selecting Codes
When you add damages, causes, activities, or tasks to a notification, select the appropriate codes on the popup. In the Attachment
column, a symbol indicates whether long texts or documents are assigned to the codes. When you hover over the symbol, a quickview displays the long text as well as links to the assigned documents. Below the table, you can use the checkboxes Copy long text of selected codes
and Copy documents of selected codes
to specify whether the system should copy the long texts and documents to the maintenance notification.
Using the Long Texts and Documents of Codes in the Maintenance Notification
The system copies the long text of the code to the Long Text
column and any documents assigned to the code to the Documents
tab page. After having been assigned, the long texts are independent of the code and can be used as a template for describing the damage you want to record, for example. The documents are assigned to the notification at header level.
You can deactivate codes for which the system has set the usage indicator because they have already been used in documents. Deactivated codes are no longer available in the input help and can no longer be assigned manually either.
