With this business function you can use enhancements for the following Quality Management functions in SAP ERP:

  • Digital signature

    For each step of the digital signature process, you can specify different signature remarks in a new Customizing activity. This complies with the requirements of the US regulation regarding electronic records and digital signatures, 21 CFR Part 11; Electronic Records.

  • Creation of change documents during results recording

    The function for the immediate creation of change documents allows you to track changes at any time during the recording of QM inspection results, independent of the status of the inspection characteristic, that is, before the characteristic is completed. This complies with the requirements for tracking changes to electronic data records ("audit trail") in 21 CFR Part 11; Electronic Records.

  • Change of notification type

    If you find when processing a quality notification that the notification type originally chosen does not fit the actual business context, you can subsequently change the notification type to another notification type of the same notification category (Quality Notification). In addition, there is a new Business Add-In (BAdI) available for additional enterprise-specific checks in connection with the extended change of notification type.

Features

When you activate the business function QM, Extensions in Quality Control and Quality Notification, you can enhance your Quality Management with SAP ERP by the following functions:

Digital Signature (Enhanced)

For each step of the digital signature process, you can specify several signature remarks that are displayed to the signatory in the dialog box for the digital signature. The new Customizing activity Define Signature Remarks is provided for this purpose. You can also use predefined placeholders to include context information in the signature remark (for example, &1 for inspection lot number).

Creation of Change Documents During Results Recording (Enhanced)

With the function for the immediate creation of change documents, you can trace changes to inspection results at any time, independent of the status of the inspection characteristic, that is, before the characteristic is completed. It makes no difference whether the results are entered manually or imported from external sources via QM-IDI or BAPI. You activate the immediate creation of change documents in the Customizing activity Maintain Settings at Plant Level.

Change of Notification Type (Enhanced)

You can now subsequently change the notification type of quality notifications in the QM-specific notification transactions (QM01, QM02) in the ERP system until a notification is completed. To be able to do this, you set a new indicator in the Customizing activity Define Allowed Changes of Notification Type.

In status management, the change of notification type is documented by the introduction of an additional system status Notification Type Changed. To avoid an unintentional loss of data, the extended change of notification type is coupled with a new authorization object.
