This feature allows you to do the following:
Maintain the data of the objects (product variant, product item variant, assembly header, and assembly item) historically. In Customizing, if the indicator for history requirement is selected, you can create new objects when an active change number is assigned and you can only edit an object that has a change number.
Note
When the switch for change number handling in the Additional Settings
Customizing activity under is activated, the system behaves as follows:
If an active change number is assigned, a non-historical object without a change state can be edited.
If an active change number is assigned, and none of the change states of an object with history requirement is the same as the active change number, that object can be edited.
If an active change number is assigned, and an object with history requirement has the same change number as the active change number, the object with this change state can be edited.
If there is no active change number assigned, the objects cannot be edited.
Maintain links (relationships involving product families, product views, and product items) between nodes historically. In Customizing (see below) , if you choose History Maintenance Required for a relationship, you can only maintain nodes with an active change number assigned.
