Structured facts capture allows you to use questions and answers to capture more detailed information on a claim or claim bundle. This tool enables you to capture information in a structured manner, without having to extend any tables, screens, or coding. The data that has been captured in this way is available for all types of evaluation.

In the Claims Management system, there are fixed places in the screen sequences for performing structured facts capture, namely the facts capture categories.

Features

In Customizing, you define questions and answers to suit your requirements (path: Start of the navigation path SAP Insurance Next navigation step Claims Management Next navigation step Claim Next navigation step Structuring Business Processes Next navigation step Structured Facts Capture Next navigation step Configure Structured Facts Capture End of the navigation path).

You can create standard question groups or quick question groups here. You use the starting question to control which question group you create. On the Structured Facts Capture: Change screen, choose Create Starting Question and then the required question group.

Delivery customizing includes proposals for standard question groups and quick question groups.

This means that the following question groups are available:

Standard question group

Only one starting question is permitted. Proceeding from this starting question you can create any number of branches.

Within a standard question group you have the following options for configuring a question sequence:

  • You can define any number of questions.

  • You can define any number of answers for each question.

  • You can use the Multiple Answers indicator to specify that the user can enter more than one answer to a question.

  • You can store the same follow-on question for all answers to a question. This means that regardless of the answer that a user selects, the system always navigates to the same follow-on question (chain of questions/answers that depend on one another).

  • You can define different follow-on questions for the different answers to a question (a question tree that branches off).

Sequence of dialog screens on which a question and its possible answers are displayed. By selecting the corresponding answer, you get to the next dialog screen.

You can also enter your own text if the required settings have been made in Customizing. User-defined text cannot be used for evaluations.

Quick question group

You can use a quick question group to create a free sequence of question/answer pairs that are not inter-dependent. In contrast to the standard question group, several starting questions are possible.

You can use the quick question group in:

  • A list of questions without follow-on questions

  • Questions that are only to be answered with Yes/No/Unknown. Here you can only define one follow-on question.

  • List of questions

  • With questions that can only be answered with Yes/No/Unknown: List with selection buttons

    You can configure the system so that the answer option Unknown (question has not yet been processed) is hidden. No is then prefilled, and the Status field is no longer displayed.

The following graphic shows an example of a standard question group and a quick question group:

In the standard question group and in the quick question group, you can define a BRFplus action for every answer and thereby control processing of the claim. This action is executed if the performer in claims processing selects the relevant answer (such as action ICL_9_N003_A).

Activities

In Customizing:
  1. Create the desired question sequences for the facts capture categories in the Customizing activity Configure Structured Facts Capture. Which question groups (standard or quick question groups) you can assign to which facts capture categories is documented in Customizing. (For information about where to find this documentation, see Facts Capture Categories).

  2. In Customizing activity Configure Internal Claim Types, at Claim Header level, you assign the question sequences to an internal claim type depending on the relevant facts capture category (path: Start of the navigation path SAP Insurance Next navigation step Claims Management Next navigation step Claim Next navigation step Process Control (Internal Claim Types) Next navigation step Configure Internal Claim Types End of the navigation path).

Deactivate Answer Option "Unknown"

To deactivate the answer option Unknown and the Status field for a quick question group simultaneously, set the Deactivate Answer Option “Unknown” indicator in activity Configure Structured Facts Capture.

If you set this indicator for an existing quick question group, the system sets all questions in this quick question group that have not yet been answered in the relevant claims to No.

In the Application:
  1. To call up structured facts capture in claims processing, choose Details on .. (such as Details on Participant) on the relevant screen (such as the participants screen).

  2. Answer the questions in the following dialog box, by selecting one or more answers as appropriate.

  3. Navigate further on the dialog screen by choosing Next Question (Next Question).

    When you have answered all questions in the question sequence, the system no longer displays the dialog box.

    The system then shows the questions and answers that have been captured on the relevant screen (such as the screen for the participant).
