 Configurability of Certain Messages

Use

In customizing you can change the output category of certain messages that are not prescribed by SAP. For example, if you establish that the output category of a certain message is not suitable for your business process, you can change the output category. (You might want to configure the message so that it is not output as an error message, but just as a note in a dialog screen).

Features

Message Classes of Configurable Messages

All configurable messages are contained in specific message classes that all start with ICL_CONF_*. These message classes form a business-related unit of all the configurable messages contained therein. For example, message class ICL_CONF_DISAB contains all configurable messages on Disabilities in accident insurance.

Overview of Possible Output Categories

The following settings are possible:

  • E for error

The message category of the message is then Error.

  • S for note in the status line

The message then appears as a note in the status line

  • I for note in the screen

The message then appears in a dialog box.

  • -

The message with this setting is deactivated, in other words it is not displayed in claims processing.

Configuration of Output Category

The output category that you can configure for the message is set for each message.

You can change the output category of the message for dialog operations as well as for background processing. You can specify a particular user. If you do not specify a user, the settings are valid for all users.

Activities

If you want to change the settings for a message, execute Customizing activity Change Settings for Certain Messages in the SAP Customizing Implementation Guide (IMG) under Start of the navigation path SAP Insurance Next navigation step Claims Management Next navigation step Claim Next navigation step Technical Settings Next navigation step Message Control End of the navigation path.

For more information on this procedure, see the documentation for the IMG activity in the Activities section. The documentation of the IMG activity also provides an overview of all configurable messages with a short description of the individual message.
