This workflow can be triggered by the system if an article has to be adjusted as a result of a change to a bill of material because the article uses this bill of material as the basis for packaging assignments.

The condition for the workflow being triggered is that the change to the bill of material is flagged in Customizing as a relevant change. For more information, see Customizing for the Recycling Administration component under  General Control Define MM Change Fields .

After starting the workflow, the system initially attempts to transfer the BOM change to the article master data automatically. If it is successful, the workflow informs the recipient about the data change. If the data could not be changed owing to a temporary lock caused by another processor, the workflow requests the recipient to trigger the automatic master data adjustment again at a later point in time. If an automatic adjustment is not possible, the workflow requests the recipient to transfer the change to the bill of material to the article master data manually. In this case, the recipient can call the application for editing articles directly.
