 Versioning of Internal Claim Types

Use

Multiple versions can exist for each internal claim type. Every version is valid for the combination from a date range for contract renewal, as well as for claims .

A version is only specified by the internal claim type, the generation number and the version number.

Features

The following version types exist for internal claim types:

Active

Every claim uses a specific active version of an internal claim type.

As soon as a version of an internal claim type has been activated, you can no longer change it. If you want to change a new internal claim type, you must create a new version. The new version is used by new claims. Old claims continue to use the version with which they were created.

Activating suspense versions creates active versions.

Active versions cannot overlap with one another, meaning that 0 or 1 active version(s) can exist for a specific internal claim type, a contract renewal date, and a claim date.

Inactive

An inactive version is not used by new claims. However, it can still be used in claims that were created before the deactivation of the internal claim type.

A version becomes inactive when one or more new active versions are created covering all claims for which the active version was used to date.

Suspense

Only suspense versions can be changed. Suspense versions are never used in a claim. This means than suspense versions can be changed without any effect on claims processing.

When the suspense version is ready for testing, it is activated.

Transport

Transport versions are either transported to other external systems or imported into the current system.

If an internal claim type is activated, the new imported transport versions are converted to suspense entries, which can then be activated as normal.

If the system is set up so that it automatically creates Customizing transports, a transport version is created automatically as soon as a suspense entry is activated.

You can also create transport versions manually.

Deletion

Deletion versions indicate that the internal claim type is invalid for a set period.

Deletion versions are created when you deactivate versions.

The following functions are available for processing versions of internal claim types:

Function

Path

Use

Evaluate changes

In the menu path under Extras

You can use this function to display the differences between two versions of an internal claim type. The system saves this change log.

Distribute changes

In the menu path under Extras

You can use this function to transfer the changes stored in the change log to another version of an internal claim type. You thereby create a suspense version with the transferred changes.

Update claims

In the menu path under Environment

You can use this function to use a new version of an internal claim type for a claim. This allows you to change the conditions for a claim that is still being processed. Such changes are not always possible, as they can lead to inconsistencies with the previously executed steps in claims processing.

Example

The version of an internal claim type comprises the following data:

Internal claim type

PAPA

Generation number

00002

Renewal date begin

Mar 1, 2000

Renewal date end

Mar 1, 2001

Version number

00004

Start date of incident

Jan 1, 2000

End date of incident

Feb 1, 2001

The generation is solely for the purpose of storing the renewal start and end date. Apart from the generation number, start and end date, and description, no data is stored with the generation.
