Function documentationTechnical Objects on the Web User Interface (PM-EQM)

By mapping your system and operational structures to technical objects, you can efficiently manage and evaluate your technical assets and maintenance objects and monitor the costs involved. A functional location represents an area within a system or plant where an object can be installed. Functional locations are created in hierarchical structures and thus allow a spatial, functional, or process-oriented structuring of your systems. Individual maintenance objects are represented by pieces of equipment that are installed in functional locations. The usage times of a piece of equipment at a functional location are documented over the course of time.

Integration

  • This application is based on the back-end transactions for creating, changing, and displaying technical objects (IL01, IL02, IL03, IE01, IE02, and IE03) and contains the essential functions of these SAP GUI transactions.

  • The integration of an external risk management system into this application makes information about the potential risks associated with technical objects and the appropriate responses available to users. This application supports the integration of SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management by default. For more information, see SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management Integration.

  • The Business Context Viewer (BCV) is integrated into this application. You can view business content and analytical information for the main object in the side panel. For more information, see Business Context Viewer (BCV) Integration.

  • You can use the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer to visualize technical objects in 2D or 3D images. To use this function, activate the business function EAM, Integration with SAP 3D Visual Enterprise (LOG_EAM_VE_INT).

For more information, see Visualization of Technical Objects in the Master Data.

Features

Basic Data

You can display and edit basic data for the technical object on the appropriate tab pages. In addition to general data, you can enter location data, organizational data, and structure data, edit classification data and characteristic values, and assign documents. If the technical object is a linear asset, you can also view and edit linear data.

If you have entered a piece of equipment as a production resource/tool in the appropriate SAP GUI transaction, the related PRT data is displayed on the corresponding tab page. However, you can only display this data on the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance.

Status Information

The technical IDs of the system statuses and user statuses that are set for the current technical object are displayed in the Identification Region. You can display the description of the appropriate status in a tooltip.

If you have activated the business function Simplified Management of EAM Functions 5 (LOG_EAM_SIMPLICITY_5), can specify the user status on header level quickly and easily by choosing the Set User Status pushbutton. All the user statuses that have been entered in the corresponding status profile are listed in the drop-down list for this pushbutton. User statuses that are not allowed due to either the sequence defined in Customizing or authorization checks, are grayed out. In the list, you can set and reset all the user statuses that are not grayed out. If a status that has been set can be reset, Reset Status: prefaces the name of the status in the list.

Note Note

The Set User Status pushbutton is grayed out as long as no valid status profile has been saved for the technical object. You can assign the status profile in Customizing or enter it directly for the technical object under Start of the navigation path Additional Functions Next navigation step Status Information End of the navigation path.

End of the note.
Structure

Information about the technical object's structure is available on the corresponding tab page. The following functions are available with the Change Structure pushbutton:

  • Install

This function is only available if the technical object has not yet been installed. You can only install a technical object in another technical object; you can install a piece of equipment in another piece of equipment or in a functional location.

  • Change Installation Location

  • Dismantle

Permits

By assigning permits, you ensure that maintenance work is not carried out on a technical object without the required permit. On the Permits tab page, you can display permits that have already been assigned, delete assignments, or assign new permits. For permits relevant to the order, select the Propose Permit checkbox. By doing so, the system automatically assigns these permits to all the maintenance orders that reference the technical object as well. You can only approve these permits in the order.

Note Note

On the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance, you can only create, change, and delete the assignments of permits. You can create, change, and display the permits themselves in the back-end system, transaction (IPMD).

End of the note.
Risk and Safety Information

If you are working with an external risk management system, such as SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management, the system determines which risks are associated with the technical object and its superior technical objects. It then displays the risks together with the appropriate responses and safety measures. You review and edit the information required for the safe execution of maintenance work on the technical object in the safety plan of maintenance orders and task lists.

Note Note

The system automatically lists risks in order of risk score and risk level in SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management. Although these fields are not visible in the standard system, you can configure the User Interface Building Blocks (UIBBs) used for the list of relevant risks to display them if necessary (see Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP).

For more information, see EAM Web UI Implementation Guide.

End of the note.
Displaying Customer-Specific Fields

If you edit equipment or functional locations on the SAP Web user interface, you can display customer-specific fields that you have created in the customer namespace as well as the SAP standard fields. The customer-specific fields you create are then available in the field selection and can be included in specific user interface building blocks (UIBBs) in Customizing. The system displays your customer fields in the screen areas you select. You can enhance screen areas with customer-specific fields on the tab pages General Data, Location Data, Organizational Data or Structure.

You can use the Business Add-In BAdI: Modification of Data in BAPIs for Technical Objects (BADI_EAM_ITOB_BAPI_CUST_FIELDS) to check and adjust field values that are transferred in your customer-specific fields using the appropriate BAPIs.

For more information, see EAM Web UI Implementation Guide.

Note Note

If you want to display customer-specific fields in equipment or technical objects, you have to implement the SAP notes 2146575Information published on SAP site and 2147458Information published on SAP site.

End of the note.
Additional Functions

The following additional functions are available from the corresponding menu:

  • Add the technical object to your list of favorites

  • Deactivate and reactivate the technical object

  • Select and deselect the technical object for deletion

  • Change the reference location of functional locations

  • Show the serial number data of equipment, if not already displayed

  • If you have activated the business function Simplified Management of EAM Functions 4 (LOG_EAM_SIMPLICITY_4), the system displays the number of assigned documents in the Identification Region.
