Contains a hierarchical structure of the permitted benefit types.
In the
Configure Benefit Type Trees
IMG activity, you can define multilevel benefit type trees with higher-level and lower-level benefit types (IMG path:
).
In a benefit type tree you can manage and transport the benefit types independently of the policy product and internal claim type . The advantages are as follows:
Every benefit type tree has its own versioning
You can use a benefit type tree in several policy products or in several internal claim types.
You have more flexibility by using different policy products or different internal claim types that have the same permitted benefit types.
For benefit type trees of the category Losses you can specify a higher level benefit type tree (see Graphic 1 below in 'Example' section).
If you specify a higher-level benefit type tree, you store this higher-level benefit type tree representatively for all lower-level benefit type trees in the relevant policy product (for more information about the assignment, see Assignment of Benefit Type Trees ). The system then uses this higher-level benefit type tree for checking the entire subordinate hierarchy.
The following conditions must be met if you want to specify a higher-level benefit type tree:
The lower-level benefit type tree may only be used for coverage types, not across coverage types. In other words, in the detailed view of the version of the lower-level benefit type tree, the
For Coverage Type
indicator is set.
A higher-level benefit type from the higher-level benefit type tree has been specified for the topmost benefit type of the lower-level benefit type tree (in Graphic 1 see benefit type 'LA06: Fully Comprehensive (higher-level benefit type) and benefit type 'LA01: Auto repair' (lower-level benefit type)). Otherwise, there would not be any sense in having a higher-level benefit type tree.
Note
You define a higher-level benefit type in the detailed view of the permitted (lower-level) benefit type in the
Higher Ben.Type
field.
To define a higher-level benefit type tree, enter the corresponding benefit type tree in the detailed view of the version of the lower-level benefit tree, in the
Higher-L.BnTree
field.
A benefit type tree can have more than one status. The system creates a new or changed benefit type tree as a suspense entry. You must activate this before you can use it. To do so, mark the benefit type tree and then choose
with the quick info text
Activate
.
When you change benefit type trees, the following rules apply:
When you change a benefit type tree, the system always creates a new version .
When you change the benefit type tree with a contract renewal (in other words, you select
Immediate Change with Contract Renewal
or
Delayed Change with Contract Renewal
), the system also creates a
new generation
.
Benefit type trees can be of the following categories:
Mixed
The benefit type tree contains benefit types from the loss category as well as from the expenses category.
Loss
The benefit type tree only contains benefit types from the
Loss
category.
Expenses
The benefit type tree only contains benefit types from the
Expenses
category.
For more information, see Assignment of Benefit Type Trees .
Per benefit type of a benefit type tree you can make the following settings:
Limits and deductibles per permitted benefit type
Permitted payment reasons, grouped into payment reason groups
Permitted object types for procurement of claim items
