Function documentationSide Panel in APO

You can use the side panel in SAP APO to display context-sensitive business content without having to open a separate session. The side panel is a container on the right side of the main screen which displays one or more side panel applications. Each side panel application displays a set of logically related data in fields or graphical charts. These fields or charts are organized in one or more smaller containers, the content blocks. For example, the Stock Projection side panel application may consist of the Stock Projection (Location Product) and Stock Projection (Order) content blocks.

Prerequisites

You can display the side panel if the following applies:

  • You use SAP NetWeaver Business Client 4.0 for Desktop.

  • You have the necessary authorizations to display the side panel.

Features

Accessing the Side Panel

You can expand or collapse the side panel next to the main screen of your application by clicking the arrow bar on the right side of the screen.

Selecting a Side Panel Application

When the side panel opens, the system displays the side panel application that you had open the last time that you used the application. To open a different side panel application, select the name of the current side panel application at the top of the side panel, and use the dropdown menu to choose another side panel application for display.

Creating and Adding Your Own Side Panel Applications

SAP NetWeaver Business Client 4.0. for Desktop allows you to create your own side panel applications, assign them to a role, and fill them with your own content blocks.

You must use tag names to connect data in the SAP GUI application with the corresponding data in the side panel application. In SAP APO, the following tag names are available:

  • /BCV/:1SCM_PRODUCT

  • /BCV/:1SCM_LOCATION

  • /BCV/:1SCM_VERSION

  • /BCV/:1SCM_PEGID

  • /BCV/:1SCM_SOBKZ

  • /BCV/:CONTEXT_KEY

  • /BCV/:1SCM_ORDER

To use the tag names, you must enable the transfer of tagging data between the side panel and the SAP APO application. You can do this in theWD_GLOBAL_SETTING application, where you must set the application parameters WDSIDEPANELREMOTECONSUMER and WDSIDEPANELREMOTEPRODUCER.

For more information about setting up tagging in the side panel, see SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/nw731Information published on SAP site, under Start of the navigation path Application Help Next navigation step Function-Oriented View Next navigation step Application Server Next navigation step Application Server ABAP Next navigation step UI Technologies in ABAP Next navigation step Creating Mashups with the Page Builder Next navigation step Implementing Side Panels Next navigation step Implementing Tagging End of the navigation path.

Adding Content Blocks to a Side Panel Application

You can define which content blocks you want the side panel application to display. To do so, open the side panel application, choose Personalize Page and then the Add button that appears, and select the relevant content block. For information on which content blocks can be assigned to which side panel application, see the table above.

Refreshing the Content of the Side Panel

You must refresh the side panel to have the charts reflect the changes you made on the main screen of the SAP APO application.

Note Note

You must save your changes on the main screen before you can see them displayed on the side panel.

End of the note.
