 Define Characteristics Propagation

Use

You call up the characteristic propagation in the production process model plan under SAP APO master data.

You can use the characteristics propagation for Characteristics-Dependent Planning (CDP). The output material and the logical components that are planned with CDP must be CDP-relevant.

Prerequisites

To determine propagation rules, master data (product, location, resource, production process model) must be fully maintained.

For more information, refer to APO Master Data .

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Production Process Model Next navigation step Production Process Model End of the navigation path .

  2. Enter the plan number.

  3. Enter P for PP/DS ( Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling ) under Usage.

    Note Note

The characteristics propagation in the PPM plan for CDP is not supported in Demand Planning (DP) and Supply Network Planning (SNP).

    End of the note.
  4. Choose Change.

  5. Choose Start of the navigation path Plan Next navigation step Characteristic Propagation Next navigation step Use. End of the navigation path

All elements of the PPM plan to which you can assign a class are displayed on the Overview tab page

The system compares all resources on which the activities of the PPM plan can run. If the class with class type 400 is assigned to all resources, the system will propose this class for the characteristics propagation.

You can also use the function Start of the navigation path Propagation Next navigation step Propose Class. End of the navigation path

    Note Note

If several alternative products exist for a logical component, these must be assigned the same class.

For block planning, all resources of an activity must be assigned the same CDP class (class type 400). The prerequisites described in block planning also apply.

    End of the note.
  6. Display the details for the output product.

  7. Set the Use Value Assignment indicator on the Valuations tab page for all characteristics that are to be used to CDP or block planning.

  8. Display the details for the respective logical components or activities.

  9. Set the Set Value Assgmt indicator on the Value Assignment tab page for the characteristics to which the value assignment of the output material is to be copied.

  10. Save the PPM plan.

If you want to access the characteristics propagation again, choose Goto Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Characteristic Propagation: Overview End of the navigation path .

  11. Activate the PPM plan.
