Validity of a Source of Supply

Use

For the system to be able to use a source of supply for a procurement proposal, the source of supply has to be valid. Within source determination, the system checks the validity of the existing alternative sources and only takes valid sources into consideration. In addition to various application-specific validity criteria, which an application can specify to source determination, the following general validity criteria exist, for example.

A source of supply is valid:

  • If it is assigned to the supply chain model

  • If it is active

This is relevant for PPMs or, in the case of transportation lanes, for contracts.

  • If it has the right type (relevant for PPMs)

For example, only a PP/DS PPM is permitted for PP/DS.

  • If it is not locked (relevant for external procurement relationships)

  • If it is suitable for the procurement quantity to be produced

  • If it is valid for the requirements date/time

For information on application-specific validity conditions, see the application-specific sections on source determination.
