  Chart

Definition

Independent screen within the detailed scheduling planning board . A planning board can consist of up to eight charts arranged over one another.

Use

For selected objects, a chart shows

  • The position of activities, operations, or orders over time as a Gantt chart

  • The position of activities, operations, and orders with the time relationships and pegging relationships between the operations and orders over time as a Gantt chart

  • Resource load, fill level or product stock curves that show the development of the resource load, fill level, or product stock over time

Structure

You use the planning board profile to define the number, content, and layout of the charts in the detailed scheduling planning board. A chart consists of the following parts:

  • Title row

The title row contains the name of the chart.

  • Object rows with a table section and a diagram section

Descriptive data is displayed in the table section of a row; for example, name and location of the resource for which the position of the operations over time is displayed in the diagram section, or the name of the product for which the product stock is displayed in the diagram section. The following chart types are possible:

    • In a resource chart , resource-specific fields are displayed in the table section

    • In a product chart , product-specific fields are displayed in the table section

    • In an order chart , order-specific fields are displayed in the table section

    • In an operation chart , operation-specific fields are displayed in the table section

You can choose to display the following objects in the diagram section of a row:

    • Graphical objectsthat show the situation of activities, operations, or orders over time

    • Network views of the time relationships and pegging relationships

    • Product stock, fill level, or resource load curves

You can display activities, operations, or orders with particular attributes in a chart. For example, in one resource chart you can just display scheduled operations, and in another resource chart ( pool chart ) you can just display deallocated operations.

  • Time scale

All charts in the planning board display the same time segment in the diagram section. You can shift this time segment, for example, by scrolling in all the charts simultaneously. For the diagram section of each chart, there is a time scale that is made up of three independent time scales for the pre-evaluation period, the planning period and the post-evaluation period. The scales and formatting (color, font type) of the time scales are preset by SAP. You can change these settings for each chart in the detailed scheduling planning board by choosing Settings. If you change the scale of a time scale in a chart, this scale change automatically adjusts the corresponding time scales for the other charts, so that all charts always have the same scale.

Displaying rows and graphical objects

In the planning board profile, you specify the display type for rows in the table section and graphical objects in the diagram section for each chart using decision tables. The display is defined, depending on the displayed objects. For example, the table section of a row for a bottleneck resource can be represented automatically by a red background, and confirmed operations in the diagram section by a green bar. You use the legend to change the display of table rows and graphical objects. The meaning of the graphical representations is explained in the legend .

Static and dynamic charts

Charts that show activities, operations, or orders are static charts. Charts with curves or network views are dynamic charts.

  • A static chart is always shown in the planning board. If you have set the do not display indicator, when defining the chart in the planning board profile, the chart is not displayed in the DS planning board, nor can it be manually displayed.

  • A dynamic chart is a chart that you can hide or display for the objects selected in the planning board. For performance reasons, you should set the do not display indicator, when defining the chart in the planning board profile.

    Note Note

On the initial screen of the DS planning board, you can select or deselect the do not display indicator for the current call for all charts.

    End of the note.

Integration

You can reschedule activities, operations, and orders in the charts. In the planning board profile, you specify for each chart, for manual scheduling , which scheduling functions the system performs if you move an activity, operation, or an order using Drag&Drop.
