
Your working environment, in which you visually model and manage portal content and applications, is the Portal Layout board, a part of Visual Composer Storyboard. For more information, see Introducing the Storyboard Desktop .
The following figure shows the Portal Layout board in Storyboard.

The Portal Layout board areas match those of the L-shaped portal desktop at runtime.

Top-level Navigation panel (TLN) |
The navigation panel in the header area of the portal that provides the initial entry point to portal navigation. |
The objects that you place on this panel, such as pages, roles or worksets, serve as the entry points of second-level navigation. The model tabs represent the entry points of first-level navigation. The TLN panel is only visible when it is relevant for the current model type. |

Content area |
An area where content is displayed. |
An area onto which you place content objects such as iViews and pages, as well as application elements (composite views). |

Navigation panel |
Contains the following navigation areas: |

Detailed Navigation |
An area that extends the TLN. It contains dynamic navigation iViews, which allow further exploring of the content displayed in the content area. |
This area is visible when the current model type requires third-level navigation, such as role, workset, Business Suite view or container. |

Dynamic Navigation |
An area containing context-sensitive dynamic navigation iViews. These iViews contain links to pages and iViews that dynamically change the content displayed in the content area. |
An area onto which you place content objects such as iViews and pages. |

Related Items/Services |
An area containing a list of links representing iViews that are relevant to the content displayed in the content area. When activated, these links open in a new window. |
This area is labeled Related Services only when the current model type is Business Suite view, otherwise it is labeled Related Items . |

Object-based navigation area |
There is no area in the portal where the navigation objects are visible. |
An area onto which you place target business object operations. This area is only visible when the current model type is page or iView. |

Compose task panel |
A part of Visual Composer Storyboard; an area containing model elements that you drag to the Portal Layout board. |
