Performing DOE Initial Setup and ConfigurationLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You have administrator rights on the DOE.

Context

The Data Orchestration Engine (DOE) must be configured if you have installed the SAP NetWeaver Application Server (AS) newly, or you have upgraded the SAP NetWeaver AS to 7.3.

Recommendation

We recommend that you perform this activity only once during the initial setup of the DOE. If you face errors on any of the steps, then debug and execute only the step on which you faced the error.

Procedure

  1. Log on the SAP NetWeaver AS, and start transaction SDOE_SR .

  2. If you have installed the SAP NetWeaver AS newly, select Start of the navigation path DOE Operations  Next navigation step  Initial Setup of DOE End of the navigation path and choose Set Up DOE .

The DOE executes a list of activities, which are listed in the table below.

  3. If you have upgraded the SAP NetWeaver AS to 7.3, you must select the activity that is relevant from the following table.

    Activity

    Description

    Valid scenario

    DOE Parameters Setup

Sets default values for the configuration parameters, which are shipped by the DOE

    Newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

    Parameters for Device Registration

Sets 'USER' as default parameter for device registration with the DOE

    Newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

    Cleanup of BASIS data objects

Deletes inconsistent data objects and adapters of the SAP Basis 7.1 SWCV

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to SPS 03 or higher versions, or Newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

Activation of BASIS objects post cleanup

Activates all the SAP Basis 7.1 data objects, which includes generation of data objects, distribution models and back-end adapters

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to 7.3, or Newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

    Namespace change for Authorization Object

From 7.1 SP03, the User Authorization data object has been changed from User_Authorization_MBO to User_Authorization.

This activity executes the name change in the change the DOE tables

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to 7.3, or Newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

    Delta Generation Setup

Records the generators of the runtime data objects. With this record, the DOE identifies the changes made to the generators and these changes are available in the Delta Generation View, in the SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator.

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to 7.3, or Newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

    Enable old SWCV for Deletion

From 7.1 SPS 03, SWCVs created in SP03 can also be deleted.

This activity enables the SWCVs created in previous SPs for deletion.

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to 7.3.

    Move Object Texts

For ease of translation, all descriptive texts related to data objects such as node, field and association descriptions are moved across different tables.

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to 7.3 or newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

Create self RFC destination for Generic Pause

Gathers all available clients in the system and creates an RFC destination.

For SAP NetWeaver AS upgraded to 7.3 or newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS

    Note
    • In the SAP NetWeaver AS, the initial setup and configuration is executed for the client on which you have logged on and the status is displayed for that client. However, if you log on to a different client on the same server, the status does not change to reflect the new client. You have to execute the setup again for the new client and the status is displayed accordingly.

    • After every client copy, you need to execute a node in the sdoe_sr transaction, so that the system registers the queues in the target client.

    • If you have not run the sdoe_sr transaction before the client copy, you need to run all nodes in the sdoe_sr transaction on the target client, after the client copy. If you have run it, you need to re-execute only one node (i.e. queue registration node).
