Function documentation Editing Information Objects  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

In the XML Training and XML Documentation areas info objects are mainly stored in XML format. You can edit the objects with an XML editor.

Integration

Note

XML-based info objects can only be edited in the Knowledge Workbench.

Prerequisites

To edit XML-based info objects you need to have an XML editor installed on your computer. This editor is integrated into the SAP KW infrastructure the same as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Visio are. The editors currently installed are Epic Editor from the company, Arbortext, and Authentic from the company, Altovao.

At present, you can only use all the functions in the XML area with the Epic Editor, for which you need a license, since the application has been optimized for this editor.

The Arbortext Epic Editor is used to publish XML files in various formats.

You also have to install certain front end components, which provide relevant data to enable SAPKW and Arbortext Epic Editor to work together.

Functions

To edit XML-based info objects you can use all the functions provided in the Knowledge Workbench. New publishing functions have been added to serve the specific requirements of the XML documents area.

In the XML Documents area you can:

·        Create and change XML-based info objects.

·        Create include-type links to other XML-based info objects.

·        Create hyperlinks to other info objects in the same area.

·        Insert various types of graphics in XML-based info objects

·        Export XML-based info objects in various formats from SAP KW and publish the objects.

·        Create a where-used list of links from an XML-based info object.
