Configuration of Usage Type Process Integration
(PI)
The purpose of this configuration information is to describe the configuration steps required to set up SAP NetWeaver usage type PI within a system landscape that has already been installed using the corresponding Master Guide.
The configuration description for usage type PI covers the following configuration steps:
● Wizard-based basic configuration
● Optional additional configuration
● Configuration of communication and security
● Configuration of high availability
● Configuration of business systems that contain an Integration Engine
● Configuration of business system integration
● Configuration of central monitoring
In addition, it provides an overview of the parameters contained in the exchange profile.
The configuration information is intended to be used by both technology and application consultants.
Before you can start to configure usage type PI, you have to assign yourself (and all those involved in the configuration process) the following roles on each host (SAP NetWeaver application server) that is involved:
● SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR (mandatory)
● SAP_XI_CONFIGURATOR (mandatory)
● SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR (mandatory for the SLD configuration)
● SAP_SLD_CONFIGURATOR (mandatory for the SLD configuration)

For more
information about SLD roles, see
SAP System Landscape
Directory.
For test purposes, it is recommended that you also assign the other roles that are available.
User menus for the roles are available in the easy access menu of the application server (AS) ABAP. All the role-specific user menus contain a reference (transaction SXMB_IFR) to the PI start page which runs in a Web browser. From this start page, you have access to the individual J2EE applications of PI, as well as to the online documentation.
For more information about users and roles, see User Management and User Roles.
The following service users are created during installation. Check whether they have been created correctly on each host involved.
