Example for Combining Check Methods

Purpose

You want to carry out a combination of check methods (for example, product availability check and product allocation). You check firstly how much of the requested product is available. The confirmation is made for the following product allocation, for example, depending on the customer.

Unlike in the ERP system, you can define the execution sequence of the check methods as often as required in Customizing for Global ATP.

You can carry out this method in the simulation as well as starting, for example, from the order entry in Sales and Distribution (ERP system).

Prerequisites

  • You configured the sequence of the check methods in the check instructions.

You maintain the check instructions in Customizing forSAPSupply Chain Management (SAPSCM) under Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Global ATP Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Maintain Check Instructions End of the navigation path .

  • You made all settings for the respective check methods in Customizing for SAP SCM . For more information, see Settings for Global ATP .

Example

The process for the combination of check methods will be shown using the following example. You configured the combination of product availability check (as first check method) and product allocation (as second check method). You create a sales order for 1000 tonnes. The product availability check shows that 750 tonnes are available. For the June period the check against product allocations shows that only 500 can be confirmed in this checking horizon. In the following period 250 tonnes can be confirmed. There are therefore two deliveries.

  1. In the ERP system you create a sales order and check the availability of an item by selecting ENTER.

  2. You branch to the APO Availability Check: Delivery Proposal screen. You obtain the product availability date and the confirmed quantity for the individual schedule lines.

  3. You can branch from the delivery proposal screen to the product availability overview and to the product allocation result.

  4. You confirm the delivery proposal. There are various possibilities here. You will find additional information in the documentation for Reactions to the Availability Check .

  5. You save the sales order.

Result

The sales order is created with the corresponding schedule lines.
