Integration of Master Data You normally create and maintain master data in the execution system. In order that this master data is available in the planning functions of SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO), you must transfer the master data and any master data changes to SAP APO. The data is transferred via the Core Interface (CIF). You can also use the master data that is transferred in other SCM components such as Inventory Collaboration Hub (ICH).
You transfer the data before starting to work with SAP APO so that the same planning situation exists in both systems.
You use SAP R/3 3.1I or higher.
If you work with PM/SM – PPM, you must use SAP R/3 4.5A or higher.
In the integration model, you define which master data objects are to be transferred to SAP APO. You can transfer the following master data:
Plant (location)
Material (product)
Customer (location)
Vendor (location)
BOM and routing/recipe (production process model)
PP/PI
: You must define a production version in the material master record and enter the routing number in the
Group
field in Detailed Scheduling or rate-based planning. This means that a production process model can be generated in SAP APO by combining the BOM and the routing.
PM/SM
:
The production version has no effect on the production process model from Service Management (PM/SM). A valid routing for this model can be found in the service product table (T399A). It is not possible to assign a BOM here. Materials are later assigned in the PPM according to a different logic.
Work center (resource)
You transfer the data to SAP APO.
SAP APO creates the relevant master data. For detailed information about the interface and data transfer, see Technical Integration .
In SAP APO, you check the master data that has been transferred. If problems occur during the transfer, you can see further details in the transfer log: On the
SAP Easy Access
screen for
mySAP Supply Chain Management
, choose

You maintain the transferred material master data in the SAP APO product master.

Note that the system only creates production process models for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS).
You must complete the following data in the product master:
On the PP/DS screen, define whether the system should work with automatic or manual planning.
On the PP/DS screen, define whether the SAP APO production process model or the BOM in SAP R/3 is to be exploded. If you have not copied the routing and work centers from SAP R/3, create a production process model for products produced in-house. If you use the SAP R/3 BOM to explode the PPM, you only need to enter the operations in the production process model.
In the
integration model
, you define which planned orders, production orders, purchase orders, or stocks you wish to transfer to SAP APO, and execute the data transfer.
When transferring data to generate production process models, you must define in the
integration model
whether the data comes from PP/PI or Service Management (PM/SM).
Furthermore, when transferring repetitive manufacturing routings to generate production process models, you can define whether the routings are at rate level or at detailed scheduling level.
The planned orders from SAP R/3 that are intended for in-house production are scheduled in SAP APO according to the settings that you maintained in the strategy profile for SAP R/3 integration.
For more information about integrating planned orders, see Integrating Planned Orders .

When planned orders are transferred, no capacity requirements are copied from the SAP R/3 system. Capacity requirements are determined using the operations you entered in the production process model.
