Production Confirmation You use this component if you work in an environment with a high volume of orders with small order quantities – often only one piece. The confirmation function was developed specifically for this “high-volume-scenario” which is particularly common in the Automotive and High-Tech Industries.
The confirmation can now be carried out significantly faster than was previously possible. This is due to both the new link to the SAP APO (Advanced Planning and Optimization) system, where the creation of the confirmation is separated from the processing of the confirmation data, and to the increased separation of the Logistics and Controlling functions.
The confirmation is created in the SAP APO system. The subsequent processes, that is, the posting of goods movements and production activities are carried out separately in the DI system.
For this application, SAP recommends that you have a connection to SAP APO (minimum Release 3.0, and for the creation of production activities and variances Release 3.1). Before entering the confirmations in SAP APO, you must transfer your master data from the DI system to the APO system using CIF. The transaction data entered is sent to the R/3 System. If the postings were executed there, a posting confirmation will be sent to the APO system.
A confirmation can only be carried out for a reporting point which has been defined in Integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE) .You must, therefore, maintain the product structure of the materials to be confirmed in iPPE. Note, that the classic BOM and production process model is not supported.
The production confirmation is only possible for repetitive manufacturing and for shop-floor-oriented manufacturing. A direct link exists to Periodical Product Cost Controlling via the product cost collector.
The product confirmation includes the following functions:
You can execute the confirmation for make-to-order repetitive manufacturing and make-to-stock repetitive manufacturing, as well as for shop-floor-oriented manufacturing.
You can also confirmation at reporting points in make-to-order production.
To speed up the processing in the R/3 system, synchronousand asynchronousgoods movements are posted separately.
The goods receipt in the make-to-order procedure is valuated at goods receipt on the basis of the material consumed. This significantly improves performance and enables the system to determine the goods receipt value.
WIP (work in process) can be calculated in Controlling.
You can archive the confirmations using an archiving object.
The confirmation data is updated in the Business Warehouse (BW) where it can be evaluated.
You can also use the production confirmation for products with product interchangeability. For further information, see the SAP Library under
The production confirmation also supports iPPE products with phantom assemblies or by-products .
Integration with other components, such as the HR update is carried out step-by-step and is not yet available.
