CATT: Computer Aided Test Tool
(BC-CAT-TOL)
With Web
Application Server Release 6.40, you can no longer create new automatic CATT
test cases. With SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can also no longer edit existing CATT
test cases. Only the execution of existing
CATT test cases is still possible. For more information, see the
Test Workbench
documentation.
CATT has been
superseded by
eCATT.
The Test Workbench contains the Computer Aided Test Tool (CATT) for creating automatic test cases.
Automatic test cases are performed by the SAP system without user dialog, and are most useful for function tests. The result of an automatic test case is a detailed log, which documents the test. The use of automatic test cases can considerably reduce test effort.
Automatic test cases can test individual transactions or whole business transactions.
The
enhanced CATT
maintenance mode provides additional test functionality. This mode is
intended mainly for experienced test creators.
When creating test cases, you use a transaction recorder to record the procedure that is going to be used for testing transactions. You go directly to the relevant application and run it as in normal dialog operation. Once the recording is finished, you go to a test case editor.
If you want to make the test cases more variable, you can change the input values used in the recording by defining variants.
You can pass the results of individual transactions in a business transaction to subsequent transactions. You use the chaining function to do this.
You can also define checks for the transaction results. The results can come from screen fields or system messages.
