 Setup or Clean-Out Order Creation

Use

You use setup/clean-out ordersin campaign planning to be able to distribute the setup costs for a campaign evenly among the orders contained in the campaign in cost accounting in SAP R/3.

You can use this function to automatically create a setup order at the beginning of a campaign or a clean-out order at the end of the campaign. The system then replaces the sequence-dependent setup activity at the beginning of the campaign by a setup order or the setup activity at the beginning of the next campaign by a clean-out order.

You can create setup/clean-out orders as follows:

  • Automatically by the system within campaign optimization

  • Using the campaign heuristic Adjust setup/clean-out orders

  • Interactively in the DS planning board by choosing the Adjust Setup/Clean-Out Orders function

    Note Note

In the campaign transaction , you can specify any existing order within the campaign as the setup or clean-out order by positioning it at the end or at the beginning of the campaign. This does, however, not create a new setup or clean-out order according to a setup or clean-out PPM. Only when you carry out one of the above functions, the setup or clean-out orders created in this simple way are replaced by setup or clean-out orders created according to setup or clean-out PPMs.

    End of the note.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met in addition to those described under Adjusting Setup Time :

  • You have created the following setup groups or setup keys :

  • Setup groups for setup at the beginning of a campaign

  • Setup keys for these setup groups for campaign-internal setup

  • Setup groups that characterize the setup status after setup or clean-out by a setup or clean-out order

You assign them to the operation for setup or clean-out (see below) in the PPM.

  • You have created the following setup transitions in the setup matrix :

  • Setup transitions between setup groups that are assigned to the operations of the campaigns along with the planned setup time

You assign the corresponding PPM for setup or clean-out (see below) to these setup transitions.

  • Setup transitions between setup keys for setup within a campaign

You cannot assign a PPM to them.

  • Setup transitions from every setup group of a setup/clean-out order to the setup group of the following operation with setup time 0

  • Setup transitions to every setup group of a setup/clean-out order with setup time 0

  • You have defined the production process models (PPMs) for the producing orders in the campaigns as follows:

  • You have set the bottleneck resourceindicator in the resource master for at least one of the resources used and assigned this resource to the setup matrix (see below).

    Caution Caution

If you use more than one bottleneck resource, you cannot use campaign optimization.

    End of the caution.
  • If you have specified alternative modes, all primary resources that may be used alternatively must also be bottleneck resources.

  • You have assigned the corresponding setup groups or setup keys to the operations of the PPM. In addition, the PPM must contain a setup activity with a sequence-dependent duration at a bottleneck resource. To define an activity as setup activity, set the Setup Activity indicator.

  • You have created production process models for setup or clean-out as follows and assigned them to the appropriate setup transitions in the setup matrix:

You have created a PPM for a setup/clean-out order for all relevant setup transitions between orders of different campaigns. The PPM contains a processing activity ( Type P) at the bottleneck resource of the corresponding producing order. A setup group is assigned to the operation. In the setup matrix, duration zero has been specified for the setup transition between this setup group and the setup group of the following order to be processed. The fixed duration at the bottleneck resource must be the same as the setup time of the setup transition between the last producing activity of the preceding campaign and the first activity within the campaign.

Since SAP APO does not allow PPMs without products, you must also assign a dummy product to the PPM.

  • You have specified in the campaign profile that setup orders or clean-out orders are to be created automatically.

    Caution Caution

This setting is valid on a cross-client basis irrespective of the setup group and location and takes effect as soon as a single campaign profile was created.

    End of the caution.
  • You have chosen the Insert Operation detailed planning strategy.

Features

If you carry out one of the above functions, the system first deletes all existing setup or clean-out orders.

Caution Caution

The system also deletes setup or clean-out orders that have already been started.

End of the caution.

The system then replaces sequence-dependent setup activities at a bottleneck resource at the beginning of a campaign by a setup/clean-out order of the same length. Since a setup time of zero is specified in the setup matrix for the setup transition between the setup status of the setup/clean-out order and the setup status of the processing operation, the setup activity is dropped.

Caution Caution

If the sequence-dependent setup time for a campaign is 0 according to the setup matrix since, for example, the preceding campaign has the same setup group, you cannot create setup or clean-out orders. This situation occurs in particular if you have restricted the maximum campaign length in the campaign profile.

End of the caution.

Depending on the settings made in the campaign profile, the setup/clean-out order is assigned as the clean-out order of the preceding campaign or as the setup order of the following campaign.

If you change the order sequence in your planning, the system does not automatically adjust the setup or clean-out orders to the new sequence. To adjust existing setup/clean-out orders, carry out the function again.

Note Note

If you have defined orders as setup or clean-out orders in the campaign transaction by positioning them at the beginning or end of the campaign, the system deletes these orders, too, and creates new setup or clean-out orders according to the setup or clean-out PPM.

End of the note.
